Appreciate your honesty. It seems that the outdoor/backpacking industry is in a race to pump out the latest and greatest expensive gear while allowing users with deep pockets to do the R&D.

It’s amazing how far you’re willing to go or do for these tests. The prices of these equipments are way over my means but it’s great to know what’s created to maintain a hike safely in the wildest parts of the world. Thank you Justin!👍🏻🙂

Excited your digging your Arc Haul. Been loving my Arc Blast for years. My latest adjustment has been from hip belts to Zpacks FUPA. So much easier to access stuff, although adds some awkwardness to putting your pack on.

I could not be more excited for the Moonlite Elite! Such a great design with an awesome weight. I'm definitely willing to shell out some money for a setup like that

“They are pointy and have a screw edge on them” best review of a product I’ve ever heard.
  • @neilquinn
Remember that in a lot of places the ground temperature can actually warmer than the air temperature because it can hold heat from beneath. On a glacier you'd get none of that so it is probably quite different than other conditions on regular ground.

Definitely interesting results Justin. I'm glad you really test gear rather than just review it. I jumped on the S2S Etherlight XT extreme after a few youtubers put up initial reviews. I wish I'd waited until people had actually had a winter on them because they're not quite as warm as the R value suggests. They do best inflated until they have no give but then the comfort of the 4" thickness is all but gone. I think I'll try the new Xtherm NXT eventually. I live near the rockies in Alberta too so I know how cold it can get even in summer.

The wapta traverse is gnarly! Loved the vid; interested in Nemo’s response.
  • @tysmith211
Great work Justin thanks for the review
  • @PixieDesigns
@justinoutdoors I love how you and Steven come at testing the same things in such different ways. And your joint podcast appearance was great. Great video
  • @mobius9818
EXACTLY the gear I been looking at...for someday! THANKS!!!!
  • @LMay64
Thrilled to see the improvements to the valve system. I'd like to know more about their response to your warmth issue. I'd love to know how this compares in the same conditions to the newer XTherm NXT. I like my current Nemo Insulated pad and would be willing to upgrade, but only if it is truly warmer than the Thermarest XTherm.
  • @megrim8292
If you were cold on a 8.5R value with outside temps above freezing I would think that something is wrong.
  • @VinceFowler
Super helpful video, Justin. I just got back from 3 days, 2 nights, in K-Country. Oddly, I had two nights of terrible sleep. While I thought my XTherm was overinflated, after watching your video, I know for a fact I was dehydrated. I already use earplugs and pull my toque down over my eyes. Thanks, pal.

Did this hike with a scramble up the Onion last year. Sad to see the glacier has retreated a large amount when I compare it with last year. Great video as always Justin!
  • @TlMESPENT
Love these kind of reviews but damn what a tease. I WANT IT ALL AND I WANT IT ALL NOW! 😂
