Was played at my son’s funeral. It really touches my heart. He was a simple man. Remembering Kenny. Always❤😢

My dad had to be unplugged from a ventilator on thanksgiving. He would play this song and tell me he wanted me to be a simple man. It came on yesterday and it was very emotional for me. Rest in heaven Joseph Daniel Floyd.

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer the day after Thanksgiving 2023. It was asymptomatic & had metastasized to surrounding organs by the time of its discovery. By December 29th, scarcely one month after the diagnosis, dad was gone. And yet, his lessons will live on as will his memory in the hearts & lives of all he touched. My dad... a simple man.

Reading all these comments, it’s pretty insane how these artists had no idea how powerful and meaningful they’re songs would become to people

I danced with my mom at my wedding to this song. I had a wet spot on my chest from her tears. RIP mom I’m still a simple man.

  • My dad passed away last week and this song started playing today. It was one of his favorite songs to play for his children. Rest in peace up there, dad. We all love you.

Ronnie Van Zant is criminally underrated. His songwriting and his voice were exceptionally good. He sang live and never missed his mark- something people took for granted in his day. He lived a lot of life in those 29 years. A true blues man who's deeply missed.

Proof that Soul music is in any genre or generation if you just take off the blinders that society has placed on us. This song grabbed my spirit and won’t let go❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
