  • Price per wear is what I use when I purchase more expensive items. When it is classic and wears for a long time, it tends to actually cost less in the long run.
  • For what it’s worth, I’ve been wearing my Patagonia Retro X fleece jacket for over 23 years now.
  • In 1985, I bought a couple of Patagonia Parkas, Jackets, tops, and so on that I would be able to wear in any environment you can imagine from -15 F and above. I'm now 61 and just about everything I bought is still going strong. It's insane to think that I still have them and most people have no idea that they're that old. In 1985, my waterproof goretex H2O no parka cost me $365.00 USD which seemed like a lot then, but I've saved a few thousand by not needing to replace it. If you're smart, you'll choose wisely and buy Patagonia.
  • I agree 💯 % with you! I also buy Arcteryx. I have a synthetic Patagonia hoody that I think they actually called a sweater, didn’t understand why BUT I’ve had it for approximately 12 years and it STILL has zero issues with stitching, unlike one of my dish jackets always losing feathers which is very annoying considering the price point of my Arcteryx down.

Totally true. I've bought new since 1997 and used through Wornwear since 2018 and is undestructible, durable in quality and in design. I got an Iron Forge hemp jacket 5 years ago and looks great.

Yes so true buy the better quality every thing and in the long run you will save 😊

I just started buying Patagonia stuff because of their warranty. Super satisfied, so far. You’re right about the longevity of better clothing. I have several Marmot jackets that are 11 years old and look brand new. I only bought new ones this year because I just felt like having new jackets. I easily could get another 5 possibly 10 years out of a couple $300 jackets.
  • Now that I make better money, I've taken the buy once, cry once philosphy to heart. I've used this on a number of occasions and end up saving more overall in product satisfaction for the quality and use of the item and also for the cost-per-wear. Its better to do that then constantly replace the thing or looking for the "next best thing" since you're not completely satisfied with the first item.

Now I’m buying more and more Patagonia, I’ve been obsessed recently relocated to Colorado from Miami and never needed functional clothing; my favorite piece is 1999 synchilla full zip or my 100% lambs wool sweater; keeps me so warm

Smart thinking. I live in a hot place and only own one sweater which I bought over 20 years ago. It’s been worn 4 times. Each time on a plane! I think it’s important to buy quality shoes too.

20/yr/guide, environmental/eco not hunting, in Denali National Park, AK. Patagonia is my pick and I actually use the gear.
  • @kauaiboy5o
What you are trying to say is that as you have moved up to a more age appropriate clothing and economic status.
  • @coyote4936
I have had my Patagonia coat for almost 30 years
  • @Mr.StealYoCat
I've been wearing the same pair or patagonia Retro X fleece socks for 90 years now.
  • @BernieMittens
buy worn wear and you save even more money-- they're just great.

Been switching my clothing over from mostly cotton, synthetics and cotton-synthetic blends. To wool, synthetics, and wool-synthetic blends.
