Transforming this dull multipurpose square room into a vintage inspired home office has given me a brand new living space to have some work/life balance! I wanted to design a room that made me feel creatively inspired, and motivated to work — but also doubled as the occasional cozy guest room, where guests feel welcome and relaxed. So today I'm sharing how affordable secondhand decor, a bunch of discarded furniture, renter friendly DIY hacks, and some discounted IKEA items can completely transform a boring white square room into colorful, elevated, COZY mid century inspired home office with tons of purpose!

How do you think it turned out? Comment below!

Designer mid century furniture and vintage pieces from similar time periods are very expensive, especially when they're in good condition! And as much as I'd like to splurge for those really unique quality pieces, they're totally out of my budget! So I really wanted to achieve that same look with some thrifted pieces and simple DIYs, and I'm so happy with the outcome! But what do you think?! Are you a mid century purist, or do you think duping the style in this way is acceptable too?

Collecting through time and from different places has made your room look unique and very cool. It looks very much like your inspiration boards and so is a great job. Its fantastic to have a room that energises you and basically hugs your soul.
  • The change up of the knobs were just right! Hemming the curtains made a huge improvement.
  • The bigger new knobs on the cabinet look a lot more original for that time period. Would use them definitely.

Could you do a video showing how you make your own matted picture frames to fit a piece of artwork you want to be framed? Thanks.

It's very nice, I like all the personal touches, tips and ideas. I love thrifted items that bring out the thrifter's personality.

Love it! Be careful with playing records near the window during the day. They can get warped easily. I love the new knobs! I vote yes for new knobs on the shelving unit!

Bravo! Everything you did in this space is just sooo good, especially the desk. That bookcase was an amazing find and such a good price. I love your style…I have yet to find a YouTuber whose style is just like mine and boom! I found you. Just discovered your channel and I’m having a ball going through all your videos. I live in Long Beach but watching your estate sale and thrifting vids in San Diego are inspiring me to take a day trip down to check out stores there for sure. Keep up the amazing work!
