Two notes on the ankle pick: 1) it's a riskier move, he's putting himself in a position to get hit with the same overtie slide by that he hits, and 2) he uses the pick as an entry to his double leg. Obviously if hve can get the pick, he'll score that way. But a lot of times, the guy reacts and he drives to his double. Really good stuff. This kid is slick.

Bro Iā€™d like to speak on behalf of the entire wrestling community by thanking u so much for putting your time, energy, and expertise into creating this visual breakdowns for us. I wouldā€™ve paid big bucks for this content 25 yrs ago and had this channel been available resource to me, back in my days of competition (ā€˜99-ā€˜01) I honestly believe that I wouldā€™ve been a 3x State Champ instead of a 1x in SC. Itā€™s amazing how far this sport this has come over the last 25 yrs and Iā€™m proud of our community. Itā€™s guys like you that are creating the new future hammers and I appreciate your efforts bro. Back in my SC highschool days, if you were seeking high-level visual breakdowns like this, it didnā€™t exist. I yearned for any training resources I could find and back then so I had to personally raise thousands of šŸ’µ to travel 16 hrs to a PA camp like J-Rob. Shout out to any survivors of the ā€˜99 J-Rob camp out there bc back then, we had very little wrestling training videos available. There were no cell phones to record matches. If you wanted to scout an opponent, you had to travel to see them compete live and hope you could find a rich parent with a camcorder willing to let you borrrow the tape so you could review it later. It was so rare to see any wrestling on TV at that time that asking a coach to breakdown videos like this wouldā€™ve been an absolutely crazy request. So we killed ourselves physically bc these training aids were not readily available to avg kid to build mat IQ, slick moves, setups, defenses, and chain wrestling. Viewers please take advantage of this free gold. This wouldā€™ve been a cheat code in my days šŸ˜‚.s Keep up the great work my friend. I can hear your passion throughout these breakdown vids and I really hope you find fulfillment in knowing that youā€™re elevating the sport by creating much smarter and more versatile wrestlers with your work. I doubt thereā€™s any of my fellow old-time beasts from the ā€˜99 J-Rob 28-day Intensive Camp (Edinboro, PA) that earned that Black Shirt reading this but if so, big shout outs and holla back at ur boy! #EarnYourGoldMedal šŸ”„šŸ’ÆšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ’ŖšŸ»

This is such a useful video! I feel like I am just getting to that level in neutral where I am noticing the intricacies of these techniques in relation to the opponents leg positions. Perfect timing for me.
  • This video is really helpful, itā€™s helping improve my neutral game and even helped me score a pin in one of my matches yesterday, niches thanks man
  • That first series of the slide by is so friggin smooth. Like Newton's law...an object in motion tends to stay in motion
