  • Nobody that I've seen before has described how to make Norwegian sounds as much as you.

The moment you realized letters seeming very exotic to you are pronounced with pure sounds you think were only used in your native language... I am french and I always heard french was difficult to pronounce for foreigners because of the "pure sounds". I know Nordic people (whatever the country) were pretty cool. Now I want to learn Danish or Swedish. I know I can reproduce the sounds.
  • Whenever I say Å I always look at the circle atop it and immediately think of the letter O.
  • I could watch and listen to your vowels all day. Thank you. I can now say "Håkon Kornstad."
  • i didmt even know Å and Ø were norwegian until now, thank you for this wonderful information
  • Tusen takk for din stor hjelp med uttaletrening.
  • En mycket trevlig handledning för människor som vill lära sig svenska.
  • Å sounds very similar to the A in “All” when spoken in a British accent. That long, low A that’s almost a double O, but not quite.

I only came on here because I wondered why Morten Olsen from A-Ha in Train of Thought pronounces 'a' in 'dancing' the southern English way instead of the northern English way or the American way. Now I have a new fixation with this nice Norwegian woman!

Takk skal du ha! I am learning Norwegian.
  • Etter 3 år i Norge jeg ser nå tydelig forskjellen :) Takk Silje

Thank you! This was very helpful! :)
  • I can pronounce all these letters almost correctly. Because these letters are almost the same as in Hungarian language. Ø --> Ö Å --> O U --> Ü O --> U The Norwegian U and O letters aren't the same as in Hungarian (Ü and U letters) but that's not so hard to pronounce them correctly.
  • I'll practice by saying the names Schøne and Håland.
  • @Lux_Fong
does Ø sound the same like eu in french?
