The hole in the points cover is caused when you make your own flywheel puller, have to remove the starter pauls, and screw the puller bolts too far into the flywheel. Ask me how I know.

Hi Leon. I have an old blue Homelite like this one. Its a x12. There is 3 screws, lo, high, and another one higher up. Whats the best way to tune it up with out blowing it up? What is the higher up screw( closer to the air cleaner) for? Thx. Enjoy your content.

  • It's almost impossible to get good points anymore. What you do find is a lot of CCCP junk. If a module can be fitted go that way. Now bear in mind that's NOT gonna fit where the points were but pick a good location where it can be securely mounted & free from pinching, etc. It'll make a saw far different than the 1 it was. That being said, does anyone have a lead on ign parts for mid-'70s/early-'80s Echos? There's tons of those out there with 2-piece electronic systems that are no longer available.
  • at 6 minute and 30 seconds into the video, you measure the condensor. you don't say what you mean by .25 ? is that .25 micro farads ?
