No piece of music or media has ever felt like every lyric was written exactly for me in the same way this one does. I'm in my second semester of college and simply moving forward because its what I'm supposed to do. I haven't connected with anyone and am overall dissatisfied with my life but this song makes me want to start doing things to change that, so I wanted to say thank you. I'm turning 40 in a couple weeks, but I still remember feeling the same maddening pressure to meet insanely high standards. I didn't learn they were insanely high until much later. I didn't learn they were my own expectations, not those of the friends and family I relied on for safety, until much later. I didn't even know that much about myself, because I'd been squeezing my entire soul into shapes I thought it should fit into for other people's expectations. Learn from a middle-aged person with graying hair -- you don't have all the time in the world, but you've got enough time for now. Strive for what satisfies you. Rest, and get some sun. Eat and drink. You are basically a potato with more complicated emotions. Tend to yourself appropriately, and you will grow, and flourish, and be satisfying to yourself and the people you meet along the way.

32, married, 2 kids, college grad- You do have time. But don’t squander it. Know what you’re getting yourself into, loans and all. Find a degree that pays well and that you enjoy. But also that you’re capable of completing. Don’t let family or friends talk you into a degree you hate or tell you that you can’t do what you are devoted to. Make friends. Make mistakes. Get internships. LIVE. But work your butt off. And if you want to, look for love. I found my husband my sophomore year, and we carried one another through all the difficult times together. Yes, you have time. But make the most of it. And good luck. ❤
