I don't know about you guys, but I definitely didn't see Top Gun: Maverick as being the highest grossing film so far of 2022 and potentially the best as well! And for that reason I figured I had to make a video on the sequel 36 years in the making.

Hope you enjoy and don't forget to leave me a like and subscribe for more, have a good one people!

Topgun = Tom Cruise. Rooster is cool, but it just ain't Tom. If it ends, this should be it.

End it. This was a fantastic sendoff. It provided a good story, good entertainment, good production, good nostalgia, and good closure. Leave well enough alone!

they used kilmer's son's voice with AI to do the voice, also, every single pilot got to pick their call sign. Hangman explains this on a late night talk show, and explained why he chose hangman, as well as why he left a letter out on the helmet

I was in AirForce pilot training when the original was released. It stayed in the base theater for at least 6 months and served as inspiration for every test I had to take! As sequels go its hard to find a sequel better than TG Maverick. Tom Cruise was right in waiting, AND delaying the release until after theaters opened up after the pandemic shutdown. Although Cruise truly understands the value of story over just ringing up easy cash, I truly can't imagine a 3rd installment. I think it's better to end at the pinnacle of accomplishment.

The call sign of Rooster was also a thematic fit. As Hangman described it in the bar scene, Bradshaw has a tendency to stay aloof and watch everything from above like a rooster perched and looking down at the yard.
  • I was an OS in the US Navy when Topgun came out in 86. I was shocked to see my ships patch on Maverick leather jacket, USS William H Standly (red/gold patch with gold trident, right front of jacket). I have always loved the F-14 Tomcat, even got to talk to Sundowner 102 after a night of tracking them in mock dogfight. TG Maverick was exciting to watch, my how times have changed. Neat to see the F-14 as there are only a handful left as the mass majority of them were demolished after it was retired. One can still be seen in the Tillamook air museum in Oregon.
  • 15:00 The Mach number actually varies on altitude. If he was flying at 120k ft (like in the MSFS mission), he would be going only about 6800 mph.
  • If Disney buys the rights to Top Gun, even Jon Hamm's character will have his own movie.

I was a kid when the original Top Gun came out, 11 years old, and I'd already made my decision to join the British Royal Air Force. Top Gun was an absolutely awesome film for me, really enjoyed it, although the excessive homoeroticism felt a bit over the top even then. I never did join the RAF, ended up in the Royal Artillery instead, but retained a strong interest in aviation, and took up skydiving as a hobby. I was massively enthusiastic when I heard about Top Gun: Maverick, and personally I think it's a great sequel to the original!

A Top Gun prequel should be next. With Maverick's dad and Viper in Vietnam. That way you don't need Tom Cruise, and that sounded like an interesting story about how Maverick's dad "did it right ".
  • They need a prequel about viper and mavericks dad and the creation of top gun
  • @deltaalphaone1
Perfectly tied into TOP GUN and actual reality with Val Kilmur playing Admiral Kazansky and passing away R.I. P. Iceman was historical.
  • Rooster call sign is so fitting given who the character is. So well chosen Miles Teller. A Top Gun third sequel with no Tom Cruise will be a shame, but I think the new cast (from Top Gun Maverick) can pull it off, if given a fantastic script.

If a sequel is as good as Maverick. I don't care how long I wait. I was 12 years old when top gun came out and this movie made me feel like a kid again. I was so excited to watch it and I was so excited watching it. It made me so happy. Loved the movie, love this video The Why. THANK YOU

I would love a third film, but Maverick was such a great film, I would want to see the story come to a close. Of course, they're probably going to do a third film though. This made way too much money, which is INSANE, considering it wasn't released in China.

Top gun changed everything in the 80s. This is the best sequel I've seen
  • @FLYYTONYA
THESE TWO MOVIES ARE CLASSICS AND I LOVE THEM BOTH. WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER ONE. LEAVE IT HERE PLEASE‼️‼️‼️‼️
  • The reason the ejection seat didn't work was cause it wasn't armed, you can see the red tab above each seat is sitting upright instead on pushed down as it should be when it's armed
  • @catsfive
Great video! About ejecting at mach 10, no, it's not even a problem because no Mach 10 aircraft would eject like that. They'd use a crew escape capsule where the cockpit was self-contained. Think that doesn't sound realistic? It's already been done. The F-111 had one.
