Redcore S.A.S. FLEM

Conceived and manufactured in France by Redcore S.A.S., the FLEM® is a latest generation blunt projectile of innovative, patented design, conceived for modern military and law-enforcement less-than-lethal purposes.

The FLEM® projectile is manufactured out of a special synthetic material that reduces the risk of rebounds and ricochet, while at the same time increasing the contact time and surface with the target upon impact and absorbing the kinetic energy excess in order to reduce the risk of unwanted injuries to the tarket.

Conceived for "protective neutralization" − eg. to subdue rioters or violent individuals, or to break encirclements − the FLEM® round responds to the modern requirements for less-than-lethal ammounition in terms of non-penetration, target incapacitation and immobilization through blunt trauma, and behavioral effects. It remains dangerous, and can have unwanted lethal effects, if fired at excessive short ranges.

The FLEM® round is designed to perform a 90° rotation on its axis at a two-metres distance from the muzzle, in order to present a wider contact area with the target. The flat design of the projectile makes the rotation possible, while the built-in stabilizing tail ensures a linear trajectory. The FLEM®’s contact area helps mitigate penetration regardless of the used weapon size, while the peculiar material used in its manufacture tends to limit the dangers of cavitation and rebound.

As a result, the 12-gauge (76mm - 2.3/4") version of the FLEM® projectile offers a contact width before impact larger than any 37mm shell available. The FLEM® ammunition is indeed manufactured in other popular riot control calibers also − including 37mm/38mm and 40x46mm-SR − thus offering an all-round alternative for all modern military and law enforcement less-than-lethal mission requirements.
