The North West Computer Museum in Leigh, Wigan, (just outside Manchester) is a brand new museum covering the history of computing and gaming from the 1970s onwards. Still under construction, take a look behind the scenes with me on this exclusive museum tour, and also check out some of the awesome thrifting pickups I managed to get my hands on at their recent jumble sale.

A computer museum in a mill. This sounds familiar 🤔
  • @PixelPipes
I literally found a IBM AT and XT at a garage sale while on vacation in North Carolina a few days ago. What a crazy coincidence!

At 2:18 its a SuperBrain! I haven't seen one for 35 years. If they get it working it will be worth a visit for us. [edit] Worth a visit in any case!

Nice video, looks like a great project. And the "Keep warm as well" -comment did create some moisture mear my eyes. The times we are living (said with me best old-timer voice).

If there's a silicon hell there must be a silicon heaven, it's where all the calculators go!

Awhh nuts, I knew there was somewhere else I wanted to go last weekend.
  • @jinxterx
    You'll get a good workout lugging those IBM's and CBM's around! :P

Great video! Since my Commodore 8032 has an exploded (giant) capacitor, I am really looking forward to your repair video.

If the cable you need for the PET is the IEEE-488 type, then I have one that you'd be very welcome to have. I also have a PETSD floppy drive emulator that I used with it - I have switched to the more discrete SD2PET that plugs directly into the back of the PET, so again I'd be happy to send it to you.
  • Great video, thank you! We saw Joe at the Wakefield RISC OS show in May where they had a stand. He was a great salesman for mugs and baseball caps! You couldn’t help but give money to him! 😂

Was going to go to the jumble sale but was ill so stayed at home. ☹️ mind you for the right price I would have had those s3 cards, so you got lucky!

I've been following this project for a while now and really looking forward to it opening up and going for a visit. Sadly I couldn't make the jumble sale, prob good for my wallet!

Nice to see the plans for the museum, and this treasure trove that you've brought home. I especially hope the 5150 makes a full recovery. My first PC was one of these and I regret selling it to pay a phone bill back in the 90s. I briefly had a PET too, fun machines to play with. No proper graphics but it's amazing to see some of the games people managed to write for these.

I was sure you will grab this Virge VX with VRAMs. Is it made by Diamond ? For sure it is not just crappy OEM.
  • Sure is a lot of computer/videogame museums in the UK...
  • @robbyxp1
That is the problem with going to a sweet shop like that.
  • @pigpenpete
Made off with a nice 386 from the jumble sale for £30! Bargain
  • @keiiko
You can always play 8bitguys PETSCII Robots 🤪 anyway there were so many things I would like to buy but the trip itself from central Europe would cost fortune nowadays 😂
