Dani Wootton is joined by guests for this very special episode, filmed during Time Team's historic excavation at Sutton Hoo.

Tony Robinson drops in for a chat, while Dr Sam Newton discusses our Book of the Month, ‘Beowulf’. We share the latest news from the site – the recovery of missing fragments of an ancient vessel.

Meanwhile, we drop in the field school of ULAS in Leicestershire, where students are honing their excavation skills on a huge Roman villa. And we share a teaser of our return to the Medieval Mortar Wreck, with Bournemouth University. This is another episode of Time Team News not to be missed!

I might be an American, but I'll tell you this... Time Team got me through the pandemic. I watched all 20 years of episodes, and thanks to that, my idea of heaven is one of two things. A baseball game on a sunny afternoon, or an archaeological dig in Britain. God bless those who have left us, and best wishes to all who remain. <3
  • The fact that Sir Tony mentioned Prof. Mick really touched me. Boy, I love Time Team and everything archeological
  • I love that Mick Ashton still is very much a part of TimeTeam ❤
  • I think professor Mick Aston would be absolutely chuffed that time team is going and expanding, with new faces and new technology bringing archeology to the world.

So good to see Sir Tony on time team again 👍🏼
  • The kids are all doctors and a knight (no less), it's been an honor to grow older with them.

Finding more of that bucket is amazing, truly this and the other boat possibility ..makes this one of the best Timeteam digs.

Great seeing everyone doing wonderful archeology. As a Tolkien fan, I love seeing Beowulf interpreted again and again. Each translation brings new insight to this poem. And thank you Sam for adding to the knowledge.

  • Congratulations on your nomination everyone! It comes as no surprise to me. Your content & contributions are precious imo & deserve to be honored
  • The people at Time Time should know that there is a team of excellent reenactors called Wulfheodenas who specialize in painstakingly recreating all of the artifacts from finds from the same era as the Sutton Hoo burial . Their work is absolutely stunning and would add a lot to the public's understanding of what all of this was like when the people were alive.
  • @Wstarlights
Great to see Mick back on the show again. Would love to see a Time Signs-Time Team throwback special on how Mick and Tim and Phil pioneered what eventually became all we are watching here right now! Complete with pub talks of course!
  • Hi Dani, Always enjoy the news. You had such a wonderful venue for a backdrop this month. I teared up a bit when Sir Tony brought up Mick . I love that the team brings him on every dig. It is like his spirit is there watching over the team.
  • Wait...getting lost in the plethora of all new Time Team stuff! It's great!
