Getting CURRENCY Exchanged at a Bank? THINK Again! (Standard Chartered Bank Korea)

Published 2023-11-09
We made a mistake and didn't exchange currency right away at the Airport, and that left us stranded with no cash. The only option we had was to go to Standard Chartered Bank Korea. We first had to wait in line to see a teller, and then they had us fill out a form. I was surprised that doing a simple currency exchange needed so much paperwork. The bad part is that the form was entirely in Korean, so if my mom wasn't there I would've been screwed. The whole process took about 20 to 30 minutes which was way too long to do a simple currency exchange. If you did this at the airport or some tourist area, then it would've only been 5 minutes max. Plus, the rates at the bank weren't as good as the ones from Myeong-Dong or Hong-Dae. I would recommend not doing currency at a bank unless you are desperate.
