I'm an old man. Born poor, but with strong, decent, morals and values. Every single thing I have, including my advanced education, I EARNED. Nobody GAVE me ANYTHING once I was an adult. Now? I'm retired. I EARNED a decent, adequate income for me and my youngest son, who's still in high school (I was in my 50s when he came along.) A VERY GOOD, PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL. Because the public schools around here are awful. I have a nice, large, 4br/2 ba house in a very fine neighborhood. I EARNED full, complete health care FOR LIFE, no matter what. My son is covered until he finishes college. It's nothing fancy. But it's FAR above what I had growing up. EARNED, NOT GIVEN. People who do well in this world, for the most part, work very hard and make a LOT of sacrifices for their families and themselves. It's NOT about seeing oneself as a "victim" or any of that WHINING nonsense. It's about hard work. Education. MAKE your opportunities and demonstrate your CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, AND ABILITY. That's true in EVERY line of work.
