Hi everyone, 👋
Welcome Back To Another Video
"DOG WARNING SIGNS : Problem Dog Behaviour Developing [DOG LANGUAGE]"

Dog behavioural issues such as aggression to dogs and people, or separation anxiety and nervousness rarely arise suddenly. Usually there are telltale signs showing the dog's discomfort that are not noticed and therefore not acted upon. It is vital we understand the dog's language so we know how they are feeling in each moment. We need to know are they stressed, are they happy, are they nervous are they about to bite, are they investigating danger. In this video I highlight the warning signs of problem dog behaviour developing so you can act fast in order to save yourself some time, and potentially lots of hassle.

To perfect your relationship with your dog, we need to observe and understand our dog's more subtle language when they feel threatened and insecure. And when they start challenging our leadership.

Awareness is the first step.
The 2nd step is learning their subtle body language cues.
The 3rd step is management of their environment - to be one step ahead of the dog predicting, what may upset them.
The 4th step is communicating with them in a language they understand.

Learning the subtle signals and language of your dog, whilst being proactive showing them what you expect and what is and what is not allowed will take your relationship to another level. I often say we are not just training our dogs, we are using our emotional intelligence to properly understand them.

** P.ps: I NEED YOUR HELP **
My goal is to better the lives of #onemilliondogs in my lifetime. It is clearly impossible for me to do this on a one to one basis. I have seen that with around every thousand views on my videos, I get a comment or email thanking me and letting me know the video has helped. So working on that basis, I have to make videos on how to address every problem
behaviour and accumulate ONE billion views in order to help 1,000,000 dogs.

You can help me reach #onemilliondogs by (1) subscribing to my channel and (2) give this video a thumbs up - so YouTube suggests this video to more dog owners and we can help 1,000,000 dogs all over the world. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your videos Nigel! I stumbled across your channel to try and learn how I can walk my rottweiler and staffordshire terrier better as they get too excited, lunge and pull on their lead at other dogs behind gates. I really want them to have enjoyable walks and be a responsible and good owner so I'll give the tips from this video and a few others I have watched, a go. Your vidoes are very informative, well presented, simple and the actual repeated demonstrations are very helpful. Your love for dogs also really shows. Thank you so much

Great advice I think people get to certain point with training and think oh that's good enough, then as you say things get worse.
  • Have to say I even had trouble noticing the extremely subtle cues with my younger Dobe, who used to have a split personality sort of like you only see in little dogs, (pet me now then rah, rah, rah) except this is a 100lb Doberman. Susan Garrett has an awesome video on TEMP, which breaks down the body language. We got the boys used to a Hound of the Baskervilles muzzle over a week's time before ever even clipping it on them. They can now be in the same room all night without muzzles as long as they stay in their respective spots. Thank you Nigel for your great content. I refer you to my students as well. Especially that reactive GSD video for the lady that has to go on holiday. Hope that helps.

Thank you Nigel, i really appreciate your advice! I try your "leash pulling video" almost every day now. it gets better, but i still don't have all the subordinate behavior at home. Especially when the doorbell rings. You got a video on how to address that?
