Synyster Gates is legit the most incredible person I’ve ever heard of. The fact him and his father made a completely free online school just because they want more musicians out there is beyond respectful. I love Syn, he’s such a great person.
  • I can't get over how articulate Synyster is. So well-spoken and so well-versed in music history.

I respect so much Syn and Avenged, and I believe both are so underrated at some point. I mean, they are famous, I know, but they don't get the deserved credit for all the awesome music they make.

I want that remastered Pinkly Smooth album so, so bad.
  • The Synyster Gates School is actually really helpful(as you would expect).

What an awesome young man and soon-to-be-crowned guitar legend. Incredible.

synyster gates seems like the most chillback dude ever
  • Syn's passion for guitar was just oozing out of every orifice. Awesome!

Somehow makes me feel good, that Synyster Gates mentioned John Petrucci :')

Every time someone big mentions bungle, my day is made. They need all the exposure they can get. The fact that my favorite guitarist loves them completes my life.
  • Wow! so glad i checked my emails and caught the last few minutes of this! my absolute favorite modern guitarist hanging out with the Beato! made my day seeing two amazing musicians hanging out together and sharing it. love hearing your influences and who's music inspires you to play. his story with his dad and country picking is great. i've got a similar experience (but no dad). i was at a little guitar store in small town North Carolina (outside my Marine Base), and i was ripping through Death's Crystal Mountain when this old guy came up with an acoustic and thought what i was playing was really cool. must have been 75 years old. so he sits down and asks me to show him the riff. (and i'm a pretty arrogant, young Marine Megadeth head at the time) i'm like there is no way this old guy's gonna be able to play this on that acoustic. so i show him the riff, and he shreds through this wild bluegrass version of the riff that completely blows my mind, is about twice as many notes, and was completely incomprehensible to me how he did it! it was insane. he definitely did that on purpose! it was probably the classiest thing that happened to me at a guitar store.
  • Synyster Is so underrated here in Italy due to the "emo" thing around the Avenged Sevenfold, such a pity

Great episode. Mr Gates you have more of my respect and gratitude for giving more than just good music.

I could listen to these two for hours!! Syn is actually the one who got me into Ricks channel a couple years ago!!

I have been waiting and hoping that Gipsy Jazz might be featured on here. Thank you Synyster Gates for forging the path on this great channel. I am hoping that Rick might pick up on this, and with so many great contemporary players to chose from; Bireli Lagrene, Angelo Debarre, Seb Giniaux, Adrien Moignard, Rocky Griset, Rosenberg family. No shortage of fine players, and I have only mentioned a few.

Gypsy jazz is awesome. I remember when I first started playing some of the Django Reinhardt pieces and all I could think was: "how the hell did this guy play this stuff? With only 3 fingers?!!" Seriously, those are super-challenging pieces. They are no joke.
