Todays video features my return flight from LCY to EDI on BA Cityflyer in April 2022.
I was meant to fly back at around 17:00 the day before but my flight became delayed by nearly two and a half hours due to a technical issue, before BA decided to cancel it. As it happened, the flight got cancelled just as the last flight of the day to EDI was closing for boarding, which meant that very few people from my flight needed up getting on that one. After being told we’d have a hotel booked, BA staff led us downstairs and towards landis de where we were given a £20 voucher for food and drink whilst they sorted a hotel.
Fortunately this took only around 25-30 minutes to solve and we were booked on a return flight (this video) the following day, plus a room in the Cortyard by Marriott at LCY, where todays video begins.
Whilst I’m glad BA staff were polite and quick to respond with a solution, I was wary of the fact that they did not tell us that we would have to pay for the rooms then claim the money back, but I figured this would happen. I was lucky that I had the money available and wondered what would’ve happened to those that didn’t - we only found out we’d need to pay once we reached the hotel. On top of that, there was a Travelodge, a much cheaper budget hotel almost next door - I don’t know if BA has affiliations with the Marriott but it was both nice but confusing as to why they placed us into the more expensive hotel without actually telling us upfront that we’d have to pay for it then claim it back.
However, the hotel and flight itself was a good experience and I even managed to squeeze in some plane spotting from across the docks prior to my flight.
LCY is a small airport but offered great views of the tarmac once you get away from the seriously crowded shopping area which doesn’t offer that much in terms of food, as the eateries had very limited and rather expensive menus.

I experienced the Embraer a little while back to Dublin. Super fast take off from City, and the seats were much more comfortable than the ironing board covers on those god awful A320 cabins.
