This Palestinian man was just released from Israeli jail, but this is not his 'before' photo

Published 2024-06-24
A video recently went viral showing 29-year-old Palestinian man Badr Dahlan released after spending 30 days in an Israeli prison. Visibly distressed and traumatised in the video, he spoke of harsh conditions in detention and of being beaten by Israeli forces. Misleading photomontages quickly circulated online claiming to show his "before and after" images. But the "before" image is of a different Palestinian man entirely. Vedika Bahl explains in this edition of Truth or Fake.

Who cares about a before photo. We care about the after one.

You do not talk about the torture he has gone through, the wounds, his trauma, his health conditions but you try to change the people's focus by claiming he was not the previous person.Your immorality and hypocrisy is crystal clear.

Y'all should be ashamed. It doesn't matter what he looked like before. Unless he looked like a cracked out psyche patient, the man was clearly terrorized.
  • "Extremely misleading". France 24, you should be ashamed of yourself for this.
  • 🙂🤣The western media tries to defend their ally Israel.... They don't do this to videos shared by Israeli soldiers

Let me get this. The man just released was indeed tortured by Israel. The man in the other photo was killed by Israel. So Israel, in both cases, committed war crimes. But you spend your efforts to say they committed war crimes against two people, not one. Smh.
  • Well... the torture in Israeli prison is not fake then. So what's your point.
  • He looks so traumatised. His face shows he has been through a lot...abused, beaten terrorised Such inhumanity....
  • I have seen stupid reporting. And then there is this channel being above stupid. Trying to cover up war crimes by saying we were unable to verify.

We don't gaf about before photo, what about the after? Y'all gonna say israel has the right to do it just because the before photo was fake?

PTSD. You can find Badr's photo from before
  • You can see the terribble trauma and stress and fear in his eyes and on his face.
