I did a fair amount of research into these events (the Battle of Port Gamble and the beheading of Isaac Ebey) and it seems most likely that the Native people involved were Tlingit, not Haida. There's a story from the Tsaagweidí clan of the Khéexh' Khwáan (Kake people) about the events, and I do not know of any Haida oral history about the events.
