Good for Toyota. That’s how you fix a f$ck up. Take ownership and fix it.

I can't think of a single person who would turn down a brand new engine over a flawed engine.
  • I own a 22 Tundra. It's been a great truck. When I purchased it, I planned on having it for many years. When the announcement was made back in May, I was rethinking of keeping it. Now, with the news that Toyota is willing to put in a new engine, I would keep the truck.

Imagine having 2022 tundra with over 100k mile and you get new engine for free some people are really lucky

I havent seen this many Tundras sitting in Toyota lots in many years.
  • This is what needed to happen to restore faith. And also not kill the techs . Good call Toyota

At least $1B will be claimed. Saw a mechanic channel say that failures he saw were main bearing failures. Trash circulating in rest of engine which would cause random bearnings to fail, like cam bearings. He also said that mains bearing part numbers changed, but not all caps. Implies that there is product fault. The engine swap is the best result. Now if other auto manufacturers would do that level of warranty for the DFM lifter failures.

Wow. This is impressive - it's not typical for a manufacturer to admit fault AND do the proper fix - especially this quickly. Kudos to Toyota/Lexus! 😎👍

Land Cruiser 300 (made in Japan) has the same problem here in Kazakhstan. But Toyota recalls it for engine repairs; they don’t want to change the engine. I don’t want to keep it and try to sell it back to Toyota.

Glad Toyota is doing the recall. Also glad I went with the '22 Coyote so I don't have to deal with it. Wish Ford would stand behind their products like Toyota though.

Until today, I wanted to replace my '16 Taco with a Tundra. It's good that Toyota backs their product however I would expect better for what they charge.

This is not limited to the US. Recalls have been issued globally in many countries where the Tundra/LX600/LC300 are sold. Massive hit to Toyota.
  • I am an owner of 2022 Toyota Tundra with 55,000 miles, no issues whatsoever I've done my oil change every 5,000 miles, did my spark plugs at 40,000 miles according to the owner's manual, did my rotors and brake pads at 48,000 miles, I'll definitely get the engine swap even though I don't have any issues yet at 55,000 miles

I say, bravo, they're stepping up to the plate and making it right. I'm making an appointment tomorrow for my tundra.

I have a ‘22 Tundra Platinum and it’s my 3rd Toyota. I have been happy with my previous vehicles. However, this one has been a total disappointment, especially on build quality. I’ll go through with it because I figured it’ll be a peace of mind when I’m on far road trips. But it’ll be interesting to know what replacing an engine would do to the value of these trucks.
  • The best solution would be to put the 5.7 v8 back in the trucks.

I just got my 2022 Tundra back 2 weeks ago after a main bearing failure. My engine was rebuit, not replaced. Obviously, I would prefer a new long block (replacement). Am i stuck with this rebuit engine now? I want a replacement, or an extension of my warranty for piece of mind. Will I have any recourse? If not , I have concerns about the long term reliability of my truck. The dealer was honest and said this was only the second rebuid of this engine they have ever done, which makes me very nervous...
  • @Rottingboards
If I had 50k on my truck...I would take a new engine and start at zero.
