S1 Max: I HATE EVERYTHING S4 Max: Here we go again

Max seems to hate everything a little less

I feel like not only did max become less annoyed, but David kinda is becoming (very slightly) less energetic and excited. It's like how they said Max and David are rubbing off on each other

David's pupils are smaller later on, while earlier seasons he had the galaxy eyes of an amazed cat

All I noticed were positions were flipped and Max's facial expression changed.

Differences and timestamps: 0:03 David's direction/positon is flipped 0:06 Nikki and Niel are more expressive! Max either has a slight smile or slight frown, and a bit more of a reaction compared to earlier seasons. Niel kinda starts to fall off the rock in the S4 version. Also, David swings his arm higher 0:07 Max is also more expressive, showing obvious disdain rather than disinterest. Nikki takes more bites and Niel's positioning/angle is changed. Max is spying rather than just thrown in, and David is genuinely cheering them on rather than just,,, watching?? 0:35 (ghosts) I couldn't help but laugh because Niel is so much more panicked in season 4, arms flailing and figure blurring. Is Max shrinking?? 0:36 (Paints) Niel seems more traumatized than shook, the painting itself is different and Max got out from under the canvas (only to get splashed with paint but that's okay) 0:36 (Snakes) the snakes are bigger for the most part, with different colors and patterns 0:37 (dance) I can't tell if S1 or S4 David is better dancing, but they're both staring into my soul--also, Niel is on the ground and Max is checking his nails 0:37 (weights) Niel has fixed his crazy eyes, Nikki is further back and Max is brought forward. Some slight expression changes 0:39 Logo has "A Rooster Teeth Original Series" under it :D Overall conclusion: I find it kind of funny how the S1 intro, Max was just kinda thrown into each frame. They gave him this face I can only describe as sneezy, as both his eyes are crossed and his mouth is open. In S4 intro, Max is much more expressive--yelling, nagging, eye rolling and the like. He seems better implemented in the S4 and more engaged in whatever the other three are up to. Then David!! David's expressions aren't as drastic, but he does seem more focused on the campers (how they're doing, what they're doing) and David has the most flipped positions out of anyone. His colors are more fleshed out in S4, and his overall actions are jumper but smoother. Someone else pointed out his pupils are smaller and I agree^^ Niel is comedically scared and more disastrous in the S4 intro. From falling to drowning and screaming, Niel's always ends up with the short end of the slapstick :,) With Nikki, she seems less aggressive and more playful overall. Her expressions are cheerier and her movements are, like David, bouncier Finally, I noticed the backgrounds are much smoother as well. I think that most of these changes just come from improvements in animation, but there are some things I think are intentional. I also believe that the kids were made smaller? Especially Max, before he had a huge head and a tiny body but now he's just downsized :) The camera angles and positioning is also much better, as it creates a better sense of depth. S1 seemed like things were just kinda placed there to fit, but S4 adjusted them to fit size-wise as well :D Anyways, tysm for reading!! Feel free to comment if you find anything else^^

I just realized that none of the campers know about Max's situation at home (except for Gwen and David). So at the end of summer when all the parents come SURPRISE max has shitty parents and is broken emotionally yaaaaaay

Nikki seems to be the only one consistently having fun in all those activities (even David frowns in a few shots)

Anybody else notice how Max forgot about trying to escape camp?

the season 4 one is so much more... animated! like.. the beginning bit really shows david's expressiveness a lot more, like.. here is this guy! look how excited he is to be here!! also love the casual thrown in fact that max still steals david's phone at 0:37

At 0:20 you can see that davids eyes don’t sparkle anymore when he salute to the flag :(

I love the slight changes for the characters to show their development! Like, Max being more involved, Neil being more adjusted to the insanity going on around him, and David being less peppy (especially considering the fact his eyes no longer shine when saluting the flag)

The animation for season 4 is more fluid.

it's a lot smoother to me... the changing of David's movements in the beginning and Max's facial expressions were a big surprise to see changed.

on fantasy, season 4 max just looks like he's accepted death at that point.
