I LOVE THIS! Wilford 'Motherloving' Warfstache (Reaction)

Published 2022-05-13
Wow. I think this one has been my favorite so far. It's SO GOOD. Markiplier's character of Wilford Warfstache is so captivating. Watching this back to back with Who Killed Markiplier and all the other Markiplier Cinematic Universe series was incredible. Thank you all for recommending it!

The wilford in the background was the same wilford you meet in in space part 2

The saddest part about the colonel being Warfstache was seeing him lose his mind at the end of WKM. That house essentially made him think death is meaningless which would make anyone go mad. 8:08 Yes that was him and they’re both wilford, it’s not time travel, but reality warping, which makes him one of the strongest beings in written fiction. Yes really. Just go with it. And no not at all. Wilford doesn’t plan. Things just kinda happen around him and he goes with it.

Wilford shows up in the background when the detective questions his reality, to establish that when that reality is questioned it breaks. Wilford from In Space is just one of the countless times Wilford shows up and breaks the continuity

Markiplier has a few breakdown videos where he goes into the lore a bit. They're a bit long but worth the watch in my opinion. He also goes into behind the scenes stuff. If I'm remembering correctly the house from Who Killed Markiplier is cursed and anyone who stays there for an extended period of time is basically trapped in a world of sort of endless stories. You never really die and the world around you doesn't ever quite make sense. The Colonel kind of goes crazy at the end of Who Killed Markiplier after witnessing his friends disappear and a person he shot (you) coming back to life. That sort of breaks him, nothing makes sense, he goes a bit mad and eventually becomes Wilford Warfstache, embracing the madness. The detective Abe goes immediately from being shot in Who Killed Markiplier to this, there is no middle for him. He doesn't know what happened in between because nothing happened in between. He says cliche film noir lines because that's his role here, so he'll say something that a film noir detective would say and then his brain tries to make sense of it and fill in the gaps afterwards. That's why he'll start with a line like "I've always had them" and then tries to fill in details afterwards. But he doesn't actually remember. And then at the end of this he's basically learned to roll with what's happened to him. Nothing really makes sense anymore, the world doesn't make sense. So he learns to embrace it a bit, at least for that moment. As far as the other characters from Who Killed Markiplier Celene and Damien, as well as one of the spirits from the house take over your body becoming Darkiplier, while Actor Mark takes over Damien's body. Actor Mark was trying to get revenge on the Colonel for what he views as the Colonel taking Celene from him. Actor Mark and Celene used to be married but she left him for the Colonel. So Actor Mark planned the events of Who Killed Markiplier to try and take over the Colonel's body, but things don't quite go as planned when Celene shows up. He traps Damien and Celene in the void and takes over Damien's body, and then Celene and Damien take over your body after you get shot. The Detective was there to keep tabs on the people there and give Actor Mark info. And I believe Actor Mark is killed when he and the Colonel play Russian Roulette, which I think Actor Mark rigged and was part of his plan. Also also Actor Mark lived in the house longer than anyone which is part of why he kind of went crazy, and he learned that he couldn't really die (hence why they say multiple causes of death for Actor Mark, he had died multiple times before that party and the most recent cause of death being the gunshot from Russian Roulette). So he learns some things and makes his revenge plot. Oh and Celene and Damien are siblings. I think that's the gist of most of the Who Killed Markiplier lore, to my recollection anyway. As far as how Space fits in, well I'm not really sure. That's a bit confusing. But I suppose like Wilford says maybe I'm too caught up in the of minutiae and not focusing enough on the bigger picture of it all. My guess for Space is that maybe the house taps into the alternate universes, maybe it's its own wormhole type thing, and people in the house are thrown into various different universes with memories from other universes and are playing whatever role they have in those universes. Maybe after Engineer Mark created that wormhole some universes we're permanently intertwined and bouncing off each other and merging in whatever way and Markiplier Manor is part of that, and this wasn't fully fixed by resolving the paradox. Or maybe there's multiple universes, some where you resolved the paradox, and others where you chose to let go and things looped and universes still collide with each other. Anyways those are my lore thoughts. Hopefully they're helpful or at least interesting. Love the Markiplier reactions by the way.
  • And in the midst of all of this deep and important lore people are recommending, there's also a random gag video from…earlier (I think?) called "Warfstache Interviews Markiplier" just for some insight into the fully-formed Warfstache. And then back to the deep end with "The Warfstache Automated Interview Automaton". They're short and vaguely related enough to tackle in the same video if you're interested. Then "Markiplier TV" and the Jim News shorts are just sort of floating around.

As much as I love Marks other projects this one will always be my favourite, its just so freaking good
  • The Markiverse has an in-universe rule of "If it never happened on-screen, it didn't actually happen. No matter what any of the characters say." The only thing that exists is what happens on screen. It's just that the characters think other things happen because that's what the script says. But when they're challenged on what they "know" by another character who isn't following the script, things start to break down. To see just how seriously this video took it, look at each time Wilford asked Abe literally any question that Abe, according to his script, should have known, and watch it start to click that it doesn't really make any sense. Because it all happened off-screen, it never happened. Abe was just scripted to "know" this stuff because he's a Noir Detective, and "of course he'd have done all this stuff". It's one of the best takes on what would happen when a character gains sentience and starts asking questions about their surroundings.

From what I remember, The Colonel believes that as long as he didn't mean to kill anyone, they aren't dead. Eventually he kind of realises that he IS ACTUALLY KILLING PEOPLE. That's why he has this afterlife, it's for the people he has ever killed. But somewhere subconsiously I'm pretty sure William is still disturbed by the people he killed, which is why in "Markiplier TV", he plays with bubbles in an attempt to cope with his bad feelings.

In the very first appearance of Warfstache? He mentions that he used to have a wig. Many years later and here it is.
  • @lorettabes4553
Mark loves messing with us in his own way. This video pretty much had the message: 'You guys are thinking too deep, always looking for lore. Just relax, take a break and let's have some fun...' ...While actually giving us more lore XD
  • Basically, if you go back to who killed Markiplier, Abe is a walking cliche. From narrating all his thoughts & actions out loud, to here. During the second half, Abe keeps throwing facts at Warfstache. But every line he says is a cliche line from a old Beta Noire detective film. "I got a hot tip that you had shacked up with...", "You were off the radar for three years...", "You had fled to .." Every time Abe tries to add a permanent detail, he can't, and thus starts panicking until he can jump to the next cliche line. Throughout WKM, all the characters tend to jump around. There's a scene in chapter 2 where Abe walks us through the whole layout of the manor. The reason for this is that throughout the chapters, we constantly leave through a second floor door, only to step out on the first floor. The truth is that I believe that both Abe & Warfstache are stuck in a parallel dimension due in part to the events of In Space 1 & 2. But with his mind shattered, Warfstache thinks they're both dead. But they're actually both alive. Finally, everytime that Abe starts monologuing, the color fades out. Then Warfstache slaps him and says, "No topping off just yet." This is because Abe was actually going to jump to another location/reset and start his speed all over again. I hope this helps.

The second Wilford Warfstache that you see in the background is actually the same Wilford you meet in "In Space with Markiplier". In that Wilford route, you can hear the exact same audio from "Wilford Motherloving Warfstache" in the background. It's honestly genius how Mark did that. Edit: I may or may not have commented too soon, oops oh well.
  • @TrueHDR
8:50 I think in his explanation video he said it would be funny just to appear in that shot, ig it paid dividends as he can now use it in future projects, as he did in space
  • At 8:22, if you watch carefully, you can actually see Becca's brain frying as she tries and SUCCEEDS at grasping the truth. LOL 🤣 Seriously though, if you go back to in space part two, you can actually hear Abe & Wilfred's exchange from this VERY SCENE, happening in the background. With Wilfred trying to guess the name Dave, to the actual moment Abe taxes him !!!
  • @WorldWeave
A surprisingly good analogy I saw for Warfstash…is that he’s basically Markiplier’s version of Deadpool. He knows the world doesn’t make any sense and at this point he’s stopped trying to understand it…and as a result, he’s sort of created his own reality where he can just do whatever
  • What's really trippy is that every story post WKM? still takes place inside of the house. The stories like Heist, In Space, and Warfstache all happen because Actor Mark (the host from WKM?) shaped reality inside the house to fill his narcissistic fantasy of being the hero of every story. Warfstache was able to break free of the rules because he's insane, he doesn't obey the rules of reality like the others do.
  • @drwhodraws
Wilford ‘motherloving’ warfstash is probably my favourite :)
  • @smartboi5354
Oh this is one of my favourite Markiplier videos :)
  • If you go back to in space with markiplier you can hear the dialogue from detective and wilford talking while you are talking to wilford in the background!
