Looks like you'd put a small cutting board in that slot in the bottom of the bread box and then a bread knife to the right. 🤷♀️

Jami, the floral leaf-shaped Japanese pieces are called "tidbit trays" and were most commonly used at parties or on bridge club nights for salted mixed nuts or small candies.😉

Zeb, I think the area on the bottom of the bread box is to slid in a cutting board and a knife. I'm so glad you got the orange giant Jack O Lantern! I'm no that into Halloween but I woyld have grabbed that in a heartbeat. So old looking and clever.
