Joy Evolves Into Love?! How The Emotions Can Evolve In Inside Out 2!

The recent trailer for the next installment in the Inside Out franchise revealed new information about the world. Emotions aside from the core five from the main film, Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger, respectfully, can exist in headquarters. The trailer for Inside Out 2 features one of these new emotions, as Anxiety introduces herself while carrying arms full of baggage. The core five seem surprised at her appearance, and even more surprising, Anxiety explains that she’s just one of many new emotions who will be joining Joy and the others.

The arrival of these new emotions was likely caused by Riley turning thirteen and starting to experience puberty. The end of Inside Out alluded to these changes when mind workers arrived to upgrade the control panel, including a large red button labeled as the switch to kickstart Riley’s puberty. The emotions decided that the button wasn’t significant at the time. The beginning of the sequel will likely include it getting pressed, leading to the formation of new and confusing feelings. Although new emotions make sense, it’s peculiar that five specific emotions were the only ones present in everyone’s personal headquarters. There’s a theory that offers a simple explanation for these limited emotions: they can change and evolve to represent different things! In today’s video, we’re exploring how this theory could be true.

Her mother's primary emotion is sadness... Bro that hits hard.
  • There’s another emotion that wasn’t initially released, which is Nostalgia. Nostalgia is Joy’s counterpart.

0:53 to 0:56 I'm just going to provide some clarification here! The puberty "button" is actually NOT a button, but instead a siren. The emotions don't decide that it's not useful at the time, but instead have no idea what it is. In the teaser trailer it shows the alarm going off, and it scares all the emotions currently there. Hope this helped!

Joy and love are two different things, happiness and joy are two different things for that matter
  • @btsrosaline3559
Well, they combined emotions for example love brings joy sadness and fear. And even sometimes anxiety
  • @Missgir
The thing with emotions that can be one of the multiples of the same thing. like many other characters we see this can also be stuff like how people develop depression or anxiety problems as they get older, which is why it’s separate from the regular emotions
  • i think it possible that the new emotions will only be around for puberty, since during that time emotions are more intense, which could lead to the appearance of emotions that are a subcategory of one of the five.
  • A baby’s first emotion is normally fear after going through childbirth and entering an entirely different world.
  • I excited for this movie to come out soon. I am planning to watch it when It gets to the movie theaters and Disney plus as well.

Joy is the only emotion that has been physical shown how she formed, but Sadness, fear, disgust, anger and the new emotions are never shown where they came from, the other emotions came from the side
  • Well, with Joy turning into love, love isn't the only thing that will keep you happy and positive, dealing with dates is hard and maintaining the balance to keep those feelings. If Love took over, then the only way Riley would be able to stay happy is to have a boyfriend or a crush, meaning she can't feel joy and other things that make her happy due to being dependant on a relationship.

It’s funny that they are saying these emotions evolve and are showing new emotions because I was actually wondering about the emotion of love and why they hadn’t mentioned love
