Commuter trains serve an important role in public transportation across the US. They provide service through various communities that are closer together than those served by intercity passenger rail. In part two of Commuter Trains Galore, we will watch several different commuter railroads in action all across the US. Some of these were featured in part one while others are new to the series. They include Sound Transit Sounder, Virginia Railway Express, Music City Star, Trirail, SunRail, Metra, Trinity Railway Express, Altamont Corridor Express, CalTrain, and NCTD's Coaster service.

I love seeing the older locomotives and rolling stock used by commuter lines, as well as the varying paint schemes and shorter train lengths. These trains offer some really unique visuals for railfanning. Thanks for the great footage.

I got cold just looking at that shot of the Sounder at the 2:05 mark between the snow, the grey waters of Puget Sound and the wind. Great video Mike! SR

9:00 Wow, that GP49 unit is hauling ass! I’ve always seen GP units as a bit slower as I see them more often used in freight and in tourist railroads, but I’m pretty impressed that commuter rail uses these locomotives for regular service

I love the paint schemes, they make the train so interesting, especially tri rail with its realistically beachy view on the trains.

15:03 currently getting rebuilt 15:13 OOS locomotive 115 15:15 now special interest 15:55 currently special interest or heritage (huge debate) 16:10 possibly scrapped 16:28 new F59PH 17:26 now assigned to RI 17:43 UP lines full time now 17:59 scrapped locomotive 18:29 78 and 216 are OOS

man the Sound Transit Sounder's livery looks so good. I love the stormy winter shot along the Sound, I would love to be safe and cozy on that train while the storm rages outside. So cool
