Officials in the House and Senate secured the doors of their respective chambers, but lawmakers were soon forced to retreat to undisclosed locations. Five people died on the grounds that day, including a Capitol police officer. In all, more than 50 officers were injured.
To reconstruct the pandemonium inside the Capitol, The Washington Post examined text messages, photos and hundreds of videos, some of which were exclusively obtained. By synchronizing the footage and locating some of the camera angles within a digital 3-D model of the building, The Post was able to map the rioters’ movements and assess how close they came to lawmakers — in some cases feet apart or separated only by a handful of vastly outnumbered police officers. Let’s all say hi to the history students who will be watching this video in 10-20 years. Hi everyone!
-
In twenty yrs, a lot of parents will be denying they were even there.
-
And yet some of these congressman said it was a peaceful protest! These people should be kicked out of the capital building and congress!
-
The fact that so many of the rioters filmed their own crimes says a lot about the intelligence brought to bear in the mob.
-
That cop who led them away from everyone by pretending to be guarding a specific route is a genius.
-
They shout “he’s got a gun”, and yet they continue to break the window and go through it. Result: she gets shot.
-
1000 rioters have been sentenced so far.
-
That first man that broke the glass just got 10 years in prison 👏
-
Man the history textbook of 2020 and 2021 is gonna be one longgggggg chapter for the kids
-
The most "I-want-to-speak-to-a-manager" moment I've ever seen
-
What also stuns me is the infantile understanding that these people seem to have of how government works.
-
Incredible how duped these people are/were. Their worship of the orange man is wild.
-
Man they went from “ back the blue” to killing a cop really quick.
-
For a country that spends more on Military and Defence then any other on the planet, it sure didn't take long to storm the capital building.
-
This is terrorism,

In a breach on US democracy like this, partisan opinion and affiliation becomes irrelevant. The truth is that lawmakers from both parties were threatened that day by radical rioters. This wasn't a protest for the good of the country, it was an insurrection that cost people their lives and almost toppled an institution. Whether you're Democrat or Republican, no one can deny the severity of what happened on January 6.

Nothing angers me more than when people say "This is not us, this is not America". This is America, this is us. Pretty ugly isn't it.
-
"He's got a gun, let's get in there" These ppl weren't too bright
-
Trump should have been put in jail for this!!!
-
People that say this was. peaceful protesting??? Should really take another good look!!! 🤦🤦🤦
