Theres actually a way where 8 or 9 teams from the SEC all could be 10-2. What happens then?
  • @JJDinomiteLives
The 12-team playoff will be very boring if we only get 1 ACC, 1 Big XII, and 1 G5 team. If the rest are SEC/B1G teams I'll be pretty disappointed. But it seems like this is the most likely scenario.

Michigan has been consistently taking talent out of Virginia for a long time.

Josh, I am a SC fanatic and with that said I do not agree that the fanbase expects to have a top 25/40 defense this year....not at least the rational fanbase that has been paying attention. You pointed your finger at the main issue which is the roster, especially for the front 7, but the backend and edges will surprise some teams. Most importantly they will all be much improved overall on D, with a good scheme that will have players in position and developed thru the Spring/Fall. I predict they will make just inside the top 50 on D

What If....Maryland has a good year, let's say 9-3 in the new look Big Ten (very realistic, losses to Iowa, Penn State and Oregon).

From a usc fan thank you for being realistic! 2025 2026 is the takeoff year!

Josh USC has a ton of Talent on Defense that has been playing out of position, Underdeveloped, and undersized due to the request from the previous regime. USC defense will easily be top 20 this season. YOU could give Alex Grinch all 5 stars at every position (like Texas AM) and they would have still been terrible. Coaching matters in College football šŸˆ

if usc doesn't improve on the field, or start recruiting better on defense then the critics are correct
  • After LR let OUs defense go to shit over his years, you should think he would have gotten to work on USCs defense immediately . Apparently he didnt, so why should he get more time ?? Was he just waiting until his staying at his dream job is in question
  • I want usc to have a bad defense because they would be in shootouts all season long.
  • How does a team the stature of USC have all their defensive metrics be in the 100's? THE 100'S, oh my goodness. That is pathetic and sad. SMH. Go DAWGS!!

"WHAT IF" -- Both the B1G TEN and the SEC Champions have 2 losses?
  • @jamesp57867
The biggest what if ... What if Alabama has a bad year ?
  • @Sammhm123
Canā€™t we just have a blanketed way to determine who gets in? 4 conference champs, best g5 champ, 7 best records outside of that percentage wise, strength of schedule/ head to head for tie breakers. Why are we letting a committee decide this at all? We all know they arenā€™t picking who deserves it most

"WHAT IF" -- The NCAA vacates Michigan's Natty?

VT will go 8-4 (Ls to Rutgers, Miami, Syracuse and Clemson) at best - I could see them splitting ODU and Marshall, because it is what VT tends to do; they haven't been able to knock off G5 opponents consistently. There will be improvements, but I think their ceiling is 8-4 until the ACC collapses and Miami, FSU and Clemson leave - then you'll have a new-Big East situation where VT doesn't play high-end competition regularly.
