PENANG, MALAYSIA - Welcome to Penang, one of the ultimate food destinations in Malaysia and the world. In this northern state of Malaysia you will find street food everywhere you look and today we’re going on a tour to eat 5 of the best Malaysian street food delicacies you don’t want to miss in Penang!

1. Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang (maps.app.goo.gl/KoTTXgXVRwfhspCp6) - We’re starting with a true taste of Malaysian food - nasi lemak. The rice is cooked with coconut milk and fragrances and served here with a variety of sambal chili sauces with a variety of proteins like hard boiled eggs, anchovies and squid. Price - 3 MYR ($0.64) per packet

2. Deens Maju Nasi Kandar (maps.app.goo.gl/5oxkwm6HgqtS3rZu9) - Next up on this Malaysian street food tour we’re eating what is undoubtedly one of my favorite all time meals, nasi kandar. This meal has Indian origins of a selection of rice and curry that was served to boat crews along the Penang docks. Now it’s more than a food, it’s a unique cultural blend that represents Penang, Malaysia. Price: 42.90 MYR ($9.13) for 2 plates.

3. Laksa Mamu Famous Sungai Pinang (maps.app.goo.gl/Svd44TrcaVR2L18SA) - You’ll find many types of laksa in Malaysia, but one of the best is Penang Laksa, sour and herbal and with a torch ginger touch. Price - 6 MYR ($1.128)

4. 888 Hokkien Mee (maps.app.goo.gl/yumxKtCCUM6JosKX9) - Penang has a large Chinese influence as well, and there are many Chinese influenced Malaysian street foods. Hokkien prawn noodles are very popular and that broth is loaded with the intense flavor of dried shrimp. Price - 13 MRY ($2.77) with the add-ons

Bonus: Muscle Man's Char Koay Kak (maps.app.goo.gl/nbnqXhRLzp9FuhzEA) - This was a bonus, trying Muscle Man's Char Koay Kak!

5. CHONG Charcoal Seafood Char Kuey Teow (maps.app.goo.gl/WVM6nUGrFgxPGgpK7) - Another dish that Penangites and Malaysians are so passionate about is char kuey teow, fried rice noodles with lard and a variety of seafood. This was one of the better plates I’ve ever had! Price - 17 MYR ($3.61)

Penang is a Malaysian street food paradise and you don’t want to miss these 5 dishes and restaurants when you visit!

The way you speak certain Malay word is really good just like local. For example when you say sambal or ikan, it feels like you can speak Malay now
