Generations Raytracing - Unleashed Project with Alternative Lighting

Upcoming mod that adds real-time GPU raytracing to Sonic Generations. Global illumination, shadows & reflections are completely real-time and raytraced. In this video, I'm showcasing the feature where you can immediately switch to another level's lighting. I have upscaled the video to 2K and reuploaded it to have better bitrate.

Performance is looking very promising. This video is using DLSS Quality Mode at 1080p on a 3070 Ti Laptop GPU, which means the internal resolution is 720p. FPS drops mostly happen in areas with a lot of transparent meshes. There are other sudden frame drops in this video, but that's because of the video recorder eating system resources.

Unless I can find more ways to optimize this further, this is how the performance is going to be on release. However, I'd like to note that I am currently doing dithered transparency. If I wanted to implement alpha blending, it might come with a huge performance cost. Only time will tell.

Some LODs are visible in Rooftop Run because I am not handling instance visibility yet. Grass & plant instancers are not implemented either, causing them to not appear in Windmill Isle & Savannah Citadel. Also, pitch black areas require point lights to be placed manually, which is yet to be done.

This mod does NOT utilize RTX Remix in any way or form!

    Skyth, you've come a long way. From simple shader mods back in the day to actual HH renderer mods like this is a massive achievement. Great work! I'd love to come back to Gens modding someday! I keep saying this and never go through with it, but someday it'll happen.
