Thanks everyone for the kind words! It's good to see a hard project like this is well received. You make everything worthwhile! And if you are interested, I was using PETG material on my LULZBOT 3D printer. PETG material is stronger than PLA, and although PLA surface finish looks nicer, PETG is not too bad either. My initial prints were done with a setting with lower temperature, which made the layers not stick too well. So I raised the temperature for later prints.

Electroboom might be the only reason why I still let YouTube give me notifications. Educational. Entertaining. And non-zero chance of electrocution / explosion. 100% always worth my time.

hey mehdi, just wanted to say - you have no idea how much I appreciate you include so many of your failed ideas and designs. It definitely adds to the comedic effect, but it also is such a relief for other DIYers who struggle with the same issues. You sometimes just need a reminder that the main point is not giving up, just trying again and again until at some point it works out.

Honestly, it was nice to see you proud of something you built without it exploding. Plus it's a thing that I would actually buy!

I absolutely love it when projects like this show the whole engineering process. In pursuit of an end product, there will almost always be mistakes and revisions and deviations from original designs, and that's important to capture. IMO that journey is just as, if not more, gratifying than the end product. Awesome project, awesome video!
  • @theslowmoguys
Would love to know how many hours of footage were shot for this 😮

WORDS CAN’T EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS GUY HE MAKES MY DAY BETTER.

I have been watching your videos for yrs... everyone used to tell me i was so smart at electronics and electricity... from the age of 8 i were doing electrical wiring and constantly improving my toys as a child. Seeing you build this is truely heartwarming in so many ways. God has given you an incredible gift and i wish i were even half as smart as you. I never really had anyone to look upto, but now as an adult i literally find myself looking upto you. Your a genius and everyone could easily learn from you. Congratulations on such an amazing job and skill. If i could ever meet anyone famous out of all the celebrity's in the world, i would definitely choose you over them all. Your a great guy and the world needs more ppl like you. Thank you for all you teach us and your ability to make us all laugh.
  • @Jan-cg1pq
Im just impressed you were able to solder capacitors and leds that tiny
  • It gave me a big smile on my face when i saw the final products finally worked. Mehdi is such a multitalented person, he designed every single thing by himself, from the electrical, mechanical, even to the aerodynamics. Thank you for your dedication Mehdi, you showed us all the struggles you have been through while building the lamp and it all turned out as one of the beautiful lamp i have ever seen.
  • This has to be some of your best work yet. Stubbornness + big brain moments = pure art.
  • @satoruyoshida5664
This project genuinely inspired me. I would actually love to recreate that lantern as well.
  • @stavrosps1238
As a fellow tinkerer i got a strong sense of accomplishment when it worked so well. You're incredible, Mehdi. I started learning the more complex electronics concepts from your videos and i'm proud to say that you've helped make the thing i love even more enjoyable. Thank you.
  • @yognot678
This is actually such an incredibly executed creative idea, i feel like with some fine tuning and polishing this wouldn’t be out of place in like a magic theme park display
  • @KingTurkeySub
This has got to be one of the coolest things you've made yet. Great work man!
  • @SpaceManAus
This would be the best project you have done so far, was a joy to watch.
  • This video was a delight to watch as a design person working in the industry, it always fascinates me that the creative process goes. How the prototype is almost 50% different than the final product
