I find people have been brainwashed to believe that luxury means logo. When in fact it is the materials that are used and the craftsmanship that creates luxury.
  • @giannas1096
I don’t mind paying these people the money they deserve for their brilliant craftsmanship. The problem is that the luxury brands are charging ridiculous prices and keeping most of it. I’m sure they’re not paying these craftsmen what they deserve. Excellent video, thank you Tanner.
  • @Abayas.
I know that you usually tear down bags and reveal where corner-cutting and price inflation occurs, but I love the idea of you finding artisans or companies that still do fantastic quality work. I know very little about leatherworking, but I enjoy seeing dedicated people practicing their craft.
  • @flyingcolors980
This was WORLD CLASS QUALITY documentary! So encouraging to know artisans still exist. Thank you for being an advocate!
  • @fc4660
I’m Scottish and maintaining traditional skills like this is priceless. You’re right they are vulnerable, thank you for raising their profile. If the town became its own plc and launched a brand in its own name I’m pretty sure they’d wipe the competition. And create a legacy for generations to come.
  • @BlueSkyOcean
It is wonderful to know that people still care about craft!! Love Spain!!! Always!
  • Im Spanish and this is not news to us. Ubrique has the best craftsmanship of leather. The reason is the whole town is working on this craft and skills are transferred from family members. Many big brands will make orders of the samples of the bags to Ubrique which are the most difficult to make and then send the sample bag to Asia to replicate. They are all small family factories, not big corporations and it is very secretive because they must sign non disclosure agreements with the brands. If every bag they made for big brands had the made in Ubrique or made in Spain seal, then buyers wouldnt be looking for made in france tags lol
  • @griffinina
Amazing❣️the town people of Ubrique should establish their own brand & do the selling by themselves. Or maybe start introducing their school & accepting people that is not the town's native. Craftmanship like that should not be lost.
  • @chihayaayase1299
These artisans need more recognition! It’s not the luxury brands who made all those beautiful bags, these artisans did! And it’s not fair to gatekeeping them while the luxury brands get all the profits from inflated price and recognition for the craftsmanship.
  • @Cardsmaster
Man, I’m so proud of you. From tik Toks to this art on par with a film. Trust me people in corporate fashion know who you are. Your voice is ringing more as you spread your truth.
  • @air9music
Love the documentary style presentation in this video, and obviously insightful as always! It's also pretty scary how your tendencies to reveal the innermost secrets of designer bags might have landed you in hot water ☹️ stay safe, you're doing super valuable work!
  • @Roogirlabroad
I loved this small documentary! It is rare to see an ode to the artisans of the world. This has certainly be one! From Australia I salute all of them, especially the wonderful, unparalleled, unsung artisans of my own country, Morocco!🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦❤️
  • @Miztli3
I wonder if there is a way to make this town famous for their leather craftsmenship again but in their own terms. It makes me so angry that these companies came and took advantage of their talent to then leave them struggling afterward
  • @AR-gg2su
It’s frightening that he is being blocked, flagged and even scarier that the police are being called in. Something sinister is going on in the luxury leather brands. Very sad.
  • It’s far more satisfying seeing how handbags are constructed. Quality, unscarred leathers and fittings. Beautifully enlightening...extending appreciation.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👜
  • @territhemayor
I love Ubrique. Went there many times to work with manufacturers. Good people, amazing memories. Miss it dearly.
  • @mariamartinez256
I’m spanish and would love to know more brands produced in Ubrique so I can support them. Could you list some?
  • @hamburgler1983
Your videos have opened my eyes to the good and bad of leather luxury and “luxury” goods. I’ve never owned Louis Vuitton and although I aspired to, after watching your videos, I’ve changed my mind. Sort of taken back that Coach makes better quality leather than Louis Vuitton. I’ll embrace my coach products with more appreciation now that I know their craftsmanship is higher value. The pieces I do have, have ( some over 10 years old) still look brand new today. Im going to look up Loewe now lol
  • @briansimpson5531
This was one of your best videos ever. So nice to see another side of the world . What a breathtaking town with talented people making beautiful things. Thank you for sharing. We must treasure and nurture these towns and the heritage craftsmanship they hold. Stories like this are the true backbone of youtube. Well done.

I have a friend who is a designer and when she was in school she have to find a 2x3 month apprentice ship with a establish brand. She found one and they were 5 apprentices there. The brand had apprentices all the time and they were the ones coming up with new items, patterns and styles and the head designer just approved them. The apprentices didn't get any salary and no recognition for their designs. Like these people who are the real masters, we never hear about them
