The Wii when there's a 1mm scratch on the disc:

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT DISC
  • @mrnutpuncher
That was a smoke detector beep, it makes that sound when the battery is low.
  • @snoleopard
Just to clarify: the sound of death can also happen when a game crashes. It happens the most with new-gen Just Dance games, and if you scroll though the menu of JD2017 or 2016 you'll find it happens eventually.

I remember having that “sound of death” happen at very random times. I Don’t know if the console had any speakers on it or not since I don’t remember it making any noises at any given time so that’s pretty weird. Usually for me it happened whenever I played the game too long, usually past the 3 hour mark it would crash and make that sound if I recall.
  • ah, the good old crash sound from the wii. i remember it scared the shit outta me when i was younger.
  • @aether9061
Idk why but its a lot more scarier when you’re alone in the dark and this thing happens 😳 gave me nightmares as a kid

2:06 duuuuude, so much nostalgia, i remember i absolutely freaking hated when it did that, i always had so much anxiety as that disk was spinning, scared of having scratched the disc
  • I actually get both the disk reading error and the fatal error with several of my original copies randomly. Because my younger self didn't know how to take care of CDs/Disks a lot of my old CDs, DVDs and Wii Disks have tons of scratches and don't read properly.

My original copy of Mario Party 8 usually gets the disk reading error while the intro is playing, but occasionally it happened during gameplay and was extremely infuriating when I was having fun. I ended up getting a replacement copy because I don't have a way to remove the scratches on the disk.

I was playing kids bop dance battle on my wii when I was little and all of a sudden the game just froze and started to do this loud error noise. Safe to say I never touched kids bop dance battle again.

0:36 that’s the sound of a smoke detector low on battery. It would let out a sound like that when low on battery. It is the ultimate way to find a terrible player in an Xbox live party.
  • I can't say I've ever seen such errors when playing my Wii back when I was a kid. Man, I loved that Wii. I had a lot of great memories playing the Wii. 6:41 was the best part though. I love hearing such nostalgic sounds and music. Thank you for a great video!
  • Rest In Peace Wii Shop Channel, You will always be remembered forever in our hearts of such old memories when you can buy them for Wii Points.
  • @korpkian1299
    Difficulty: Extremely easy
    Open Wii shop channel
    Error occurred
    The end
  • I love watching these as a kid and I still watch these to this day. Keep it up!
  • The sound of death is probably the sound of the hard drive failing and the pop sound is the sound of it losing power because holding the power button doesn’t shut it off but instead cuts power to all components
  • @mars6
Am i the only one who is scared of console/computer start ups and errors??
  • @warpedg4mer936
4:13 I got this when I was super young and home alone bruh it scared me because of how bold the text was

Also, like alarms, error screens may seem creepy or scary because they’re message it to get you to do what it’s purpose is. Like if you don’t want to break the console, it might give you a screen telling you to look in a certain place or what to do. Meant to get you to do it immediately because you feel confused and bothered.
  • the sound of death is most likely caused by a dead cpu, the reason that it shows any signs of life at all is cause the wii actually has 2 cpus. The main cpu isnt used at all on startup so the secondary cpu is obviously good, but it appears once it tries to use the main cpu, it fails and the system crashes. If the secondary cpu was dead the wii wouldnt do anything when you turn it on, youd just get a black screen. Also the pop sound when he turned it off was just the tv speakers

The reason that the Wii makes that long never-ending horn sound when it crashes is actually pretty straightforward when you think about it.

When the Nintendo Wii crashes, every single driver except the video and audio ones are disabled, leaving you with a frozen frame and a constant "EEEEEEEEE" sound. But the scary part about it is that it startles you, because you have no way of knowing when it will happen or why it did. At least not right away.

My thinking for this crash protection fail-safe is because Nintendo advertised the Wii to families, and they didn't want to overcomplicate the system with some kind of more complex crash handler or error reporting systems that can be a hassle, so it would be easier for families.
