Dear Gabriel: The species of Amazon sword plant you acquired appears to be Echinodorus bleheri. $12.00, for a specimen that size, in such good condition was a real bargain! I’m very pleased that you enjoyed the swap meet. I was surprised, when I watched your, previous video, to note that you rented a motel room, for same. I went to a swap meet, last weekend. Getting there involved a 2.5 hour drive and the event only lasted a few hours. I did have a blast and purchased several items, at very good prices. I hope you find closer, such events, in future, to attend. Please do not break your Amazon sword plant in half. That would likely kill it. The only way to propagate Amazon sword plants, from my experience, is to remove daughter plants from runners. Even this is risky. I removed two daughter plants, from the same runner and replanted them, only to have both expire. I recommend leaving daughter plants on runners as long as possible. It might even be best to root daughter plants, in the substrate and leave runners in tact, to deteriorate, on their own. If you don’t have a water-test kit, please take a sample of the water from the tank, where all the plants died, to a pet store and ask them to test it (for free) for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. If any of those parameters are high, it will be necessary to get that sorted before adding fauna. Thank you for sharing this, terrific update. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar

That sword plant was a great deal. I'm not sure if you split it through but anything is possible if you have roots on both half's it probably would work. One thought about your blue moscows in your 125 there. I don't think the any babies will survive there pretty sure you angels and goramies will pick them off rather quickly
  • Nice big sword... Well with 12 bucks... Ya... A few more would of worked... But next time

That amazon sword looks like a mother plant so will probley grow more plants

Yeah I'm not a 100% sure, but I don't think you can just cut a stem and plant it. You'll need to wait till you get a runner then cut that and replant. Also it looks like the crown may be buried unless I'm just not seeing it clearly. I don't think you want the crown fully buried as it may not be about to produce off-shoots. This is really just my best guess because I'm no plant expert. It's a gorgeous sword plant and I'd hate for you to lose it. But please, let someone else more well educated on Amazon swords advise you than me. It's a great addition...congratulations!

The mother plant will have more shots then a normal plant
