Hawaii Vacation Comparison - 7-Day Cruise vs. 6-Night Resort. Our recent stay at the Sheraton Waikiki Resort was great, but we were SHOCKED at the cost of the 6-night stay!.     It's comparing apples to oranges. I like cruising too but it's a completely different type of vacation. We've done both. In a cruise, your goal is to be pampered and you don't have to think much. You just go with the flow and enjoy yourself. If your goal is to explore an island, its culture, do many activities and really immerse yourself, then land trips are the way to go.

    You also compared a 7 night cruise to a 6 night stay at a hotel. Add another night at the hotel make up for the difference, Then add food and drinks. Your final stay at one island is more.
