Today I tackle one of Yuu Asaka's notoriously difficult puzzles, a 4-piece brain teaser (Echo 4) that tests both patience and problem-solving skills. Renowned for creating puzzles that defy expectations and require innovative thinking, Yuu Asaka's designs often involve unique shapes and deceptive simplicity.

9:19 “he isn’t a stranger to weird diagonal solutions” proceeds not to do anything diagonal 9:39 “What haven’t we tried yet?”

Yuu Asaka's puzzles are some of my favorite to watch being solved. He's so clever with his puzzles.
  • @MarkSantaMaria
it's these type of videos that hooked me to your channel a few years back. Love the old school "simpler" puzzle solving videos.

CHRIS : "If you're yelling at your screen right now..." ME : "Omg, how did you KNOW?!" 😆😆😆
  • @spykids2
His puzzles are always clever and look beautiful by the end. A lot of puzzles feel the need to be super elaborate and flashy, but it's much harder to create elegant solutions out of something so simple.
  • @mattcvideo9407
Chris, I love watching you solve small puzzles like these much more than the massive elaborate ones! Keep it up!
  • @bjmgeek
I always love watching you solve a seemingly simple puzzle. I also always love your background music.
  • I think this is one of the first puzzles where you were about 4 min in that I was straight up doing the silent rage (you know, head bob and large arm movements)...to say to put the two white ones angle to angle. lol. Fun puzzle. Always enjoy your vids.
  • @imogenoliver
Figured it must go diagonally probably 5-10 minutes into your timer but couldn’t figure out exactly how just from sight. So interesting to see just how many other close options there are. This guys brain is incredible, being able to have just one solution in his puzzles!!!
  • @FilipKik
Bro...literally @2:47 you figured it out and i was screaming right then... "Just do that Diagonally!" 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦
  • @MaxRide1
from the get go I was internally screaming "TRY THE DIAGONAL" then I thought you got it when you said "he's done some weird solves with diagonals" and then proceeded to completely ignore your own advice. you're right. it's frustrating. it's also frustrating watching you ignore your own advice and repeat the same steps over and over again. congrats on the solve though and happy new year :)
  • My favourite type of video: simple, cheap, makes me think along and the solution is beautiful.
  • I love these mind games. My first introduction to them was the "Old Shackles/Polish Handcuffs" with 2 horseshoes, chain links welded to the ends and a ring that was taken off. I was about 12 at the time when dad brought them home. Dad is gone now but I have that puzzle yet as well as 75-100 more of all types. Some days i just have to set down and play with them to sharpen my focus.

I would never have the patience to solve these puzzles. And, yet, I always have the patience to watch Chris solve them.

It has been a while since I've watched your videos, good to be back. It always calms me to watch you solve puzzles, idk, your narration and calmness is just nice to experience. Keep it up man

Let's go! Love Yuu's puzzles, great start to the year!
  • @davidfull6649
Hope all is well brother, so glad to see you channel go from what it’s a was years ago when I first started following you to what it is now. Much love brother!
  • @MigLea85
Thanks for this awesome video. Bring more of this kind of puzzle. I truly love how a 4piece puzzle can be so challange...
  • @sergiambros4195
Nice first video of the year. I like how optimistically you believe at the beginning that you can beat the suggested resolution time, and I like more how you beat it at the end of the video. Good work!
