    I've lived and worked in many countries, starting in Saudi Arabia, in 1950. Over those years, I've met many people, in many places, mostly at work, or in restaurants and hotels. I always found a few people that were open to new acquaintances and made new friends that way. I'm drawn back to 1985 in Cairo, where I befriended a young and wonderfully friendly Egyptian Engineer. Some weeks later, he called and invited me and my wife and 15 yo son to join him for his daughter's 12th birthday, at his beach house in Alexandria. We drove up and had a wonderful time, enjoying the opportunity to meet his family and enjoy their hospitality, and their wonderful food. I will always remember their hospitality and the friendship that grew from that 1st meeting. I still keep in touch with him, and he now lives in Abu Dhabi . . .
