Clancy I. - AA Speaker - One of his funniest talks ever!

Published 2013-07-31
I absolutely love hearing Clancy speak. He is one of the best AA speakers that have ever lived, in my humble opinion. In this tape, his razor sharp and quick wit are on display, as well as his stories filled with hilarious antics. This tape is VERY entertaining. Also, he articulates the message of recovery in a simple, yet profound way. Thank you so much for what you do Clancy! Enjoy the tape everyone! :)

From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: "In spite of the great increase in the size and span of this Fellowship, at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope."

What is the Twelve Step Model? How is it a "treatment for alcoholism" or "alcohol abuse?"

From Wikipedia: "A twelve-step program is a set of guiding principles (accepted by members as 'spiritual principles,' based on the approved literature) outlining a course of action for recovery from addiction, compulsion, or other behavioral problems. Originally proposed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) as a method of recovery from alcoholism, the Twelve Steps were first published in the book Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered from Alcoholism in 1939. The method was then adapted and became the foundation of other twelve-step programs. Twelve-step methods have been adopted to address a wide range of substance-abuse and dependency problems."

You can find out more at: www.aa.org/ - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site (And as should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other 12 step program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.)

"Addiction treatment" WORKS! There is addiction help out there and "addiction recovery" is possible. If you are battling "alcohol addiction" there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!

It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her "alcohol abuse treatment." "Substance abuse" is a very serious condition. Many need inpatient stays or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with substance abuse issues. Help IS out there! :)

From the Big Book of AA: "Most of us feel we need look no further for Utopia. We have it with us right here and now. Each day my friend's simple talk in our kitchen multiplies itself in a widening circle of peace on earth and good will to men."

This video was posted exactly 1 week after I gave sobriety a real shot. What a crazy roller-coaster ride of emotions that first year was. Lasted about 19 months before a relapse. Went out over a petty resentment and a bad case of self-pity... No thing is so bad that a relapse won't make worse. So glad I made it back in! Next October I'll have 5 years, SO SO GRATEFUL!! ♥️

Dude was my dad's sponsor. As a small child, he sent me postcards from every state he visited where he was helping other drunks. I love and will miss this man forever.

I got sober in Clancy's Pacific Group.. I owe my sobriety to Clancy's foundation and program of action (I have 29 years +). He saw me in a coffee shop some 6 years after I left the PG and he remembered my name.. I didn't think he even knew who i was. When i had a day sober I almost walked out of his backyard... angry that he was calling everyone near-do-wells (I later learned this was part of his jest). My AA eskimo friend ran after me and dragged me back.. and I fell in love with his Saturday softball regiment. I owe my life to AA; Clancy, and his brand of the program. This took me way back.. a great listen. Thank you AA.

6 years of sobriety today. Treating myself tonight with a message of courage strength and hope from Clancy. AA has saved me from living a life of hell. I am truly grateful for the love and support I have received from the fellowship.

Clancy's disease of perception talk was basically mandatory listening in my original sponsorship tree and homegroup...he is the first person ever to explain the disease to me that made complete sense, and I new it to the core... 'this man knows all about me...and there is a solution!' I got to see him in Wisconsin 3 times before he passed. He is such a great guy, helped so many people.

AA does for us slowly, what alcohol did quickly. Fantastic. Great listen.

I'm here because I was forwarded to this by a friend. I'm 3 days sober and kind of down. I think I needed this!!! =)

"Alcoholics aren't people whose problem is alcohol. Alcoholics are people whose answer is alcohol." Genius.
  • Clancy and AAers like him who don’t sugarcoat the Solution are what saved my life 10 years ago. Love you all and hope you’re finding life in the Solution ❤️
  • Sweet William in Bozeman and gave me a copy of Clancy many years ago and he said kid go home and listen to this guy and bring it back to me tomorrow and tell me if you still think you're crazy that was the summer of 1992 and it kept me sober and gave me insight into my real problem which is not ingesting alcohol it's living with this brain. Clancy saved so many lives by helping little Knuckleheads like me understand that the solution to the problem isn't stopping drinking it's learning how to live.

I didn’t know Clancy had died. That saddens me a what a great man. I’ve been listening to his recordings for over 35 years and they never get old.
  • When I was newly sober I was asked to secure speakers for a small meeting in Sunland, Ca. Somebody said “see if you can get Clancy to speak!” I had no idea who he was but I called him up and asked him to speak at our meeting. His calendar was open and he agreed to come and speak. It was a great evening and I haven’t had a drink since 1989.✌️
