Pioneer P-51 Diagnosis & McCulloch SP81 Unpacking & Diagnosis, More of the 82cc Challenge!

Published 2020-01-12
Final (hopefully) diagnosis of the ignition issues on the Pioneer P-51 and the un-boxing of the McCulloch SP81. Will this saw be worth the gamble?

I may be wrong but should be a serial plate just below the carb.....my money would be on the sp81 in the challenge those old super pro's are some mean saw's....
  • Good video Leon. One thing's for sure, it'll take a whole lot before you even think about throwing in the towel. The more these old saws throw at you the more determined you are to get 'em runnin'. Be interesting to see how both these guys turn out. By the way, been doing some cutting with the 028 since I got it back and so far so good...will keep you posted!

It's pretty common for magnetos to lose magnetism and generate a weak spark, lots of the flywheels for Macs for sale on ebay are from carters who changed them out for that reason. There is a father and son in Seattle that re-magnitize flywheels but I've lost track of their names. Most of us just keep changing spark plugs and adjusting carburetors.
