Glad to see that you’re helping Ronald Beavers get into ham radio Josh
  • @jakep5121
I like this new deal where your talking to yourself. Me too.
  • @Eric10179
5:35 : he did the boofwang thing!!! 🤣😅 Even whipped it around while holding the antenna like Randy hahaha. Love i
  • @M0RMY
Thanks both.. Poor Leah having twice the Josh to cope with. Enjoyed it mate.

"How much does it cost to get into ham radio?" "It depends. It's either $1,000 or $10,000. There are no other options."
  • @redbaron2342
I appreciate how patient you were with your twin!😂
  • @klutch545
That’s a great representation of how those conversations go, my only complaint is that it was under 30 minuets! I’ve noticed that 99% of hams are curious people who have no problem helping others and sharing their knowledge. But once they get going, you might be wrapped up for a while! 😂
  • @johnkennedy1506
“It depends” applies to almost every facet of life. If you want to to defend your home, your particular defensive situation depends on a number of factors.
  • @bendeleted9155
It should say right on the box how many fars it talks. It's a dollar per mile, so if your buddy lives $18 dollars away, you're good! 👍
  • @JamiesHackShack
Unless I missed it, I kept waiting to see a 3rd Josh show up peeking out in the background. 😀Nice Vid!

I appreciate you facilitating individuals to think for themselves, about what they really need. Just like buying many consumer products. You want a fast car or off road capable, heated seats and your budget. Too many people today, dont want to put in the effort to figure out an answer. They would rather ask someone or Google it. Then go buy it and check off the box. Maybe I dont have a life but I enjoy watching and reading as many reviews as I can. Then talking to others in whatever community. Then deducing the right solution for me.
  • Playing 50 questions with those not familiar to Ham (or any radio service) helps me to better learn as a comms guy myself. Thanks Josh!
  • @Epiclyspeaking
It's gotten to the point when someone sees me looking at ham radio stuff and they ask me about it I just say "nerd stuff". Mostly because I'm not good at explaining without the jargon.
  • @janiceemery2008
Josh, I love when you play two parts in your video, it is entertaining. So for me, I will still sometimes ask, "what if" but, more often then not, I pick up a book and try to understand by reading about it instead of asking. I will admit, I still get confused about some issues in ham radio, and usually you can find the answer on one of better ham radio youtubers. Thank you for sharing Josh.
  • @RLSHINK
Reminds me of every time an officer has asked me “how far can I talk on HF”
  • @billmcilwee566
I am a member of a handful of Facebook groups where folks ask these questions daily. Most Elmers (I do not consider myself an Elmer) try out best to answer these questions. Thanks for your video and we should always try our best to help new hams. I remember when I had questions about things I knew nothing about. 73, KF0NNQ.
  • @BryanDaniel42
I've reminded people that with cellphones you're talking on a radio [the cellphone] through a repeater[the cell tower] that's connected [through the carrier's network] to another repeater [a cell phone tower] that's connected to the radio [cell phone] they are using
  • @Pahrump
I think part of our issue these days is people will drop $1,200 either outright or over the span of a 24-month lease from the phone company and things "just work". They don't have to think about how it works or why it works and they only get the occasional inconvenience of not having a good enough signal to make a call. Big brother in the form of the phone company "just makes it work". They are used to being told what to do and not having to think about it. With ham radio you have to do a little bit on your own and learn a little bit on your own with the help of other people. "If this baofen is bigger than my cell phone why can't I talk across the country like my cell phone can?'
  • @HamRadioA2Z
I feel much better about talking to myself now. 😂
  • @rc45satx
Outstanding, Josh! Great use of dual roles, and very informative.
