Such a magical era of football. Sure, the game has changed, and there is now such a huge emphasis on formations, thus making today's era the most competitive ever IMO, but the previous era allowed for so many magical moments that are dearly missed. Or in short: the era of Ronaldo Nazario/Ronaldinho/Zidane/Beckham was just so much more fun to watch. Everybody just let loose, and actual magic was created on the pitch. I will always look back fondly to this era.

My hero R9's explosiveness is completely gone here, but still untouchable!! Dinho was an absolute joy to watch! Football just felt more pure and organic back then.

Keep in mind Ronaldo was already in his decline. He was already overweight, because of his hyperthyroidism, Real Madrid fans and media constantly were criticizing him and he was suffering a strain of injuries one after another. Imagine this man on the level he was at 1997 Barcelona, 2002 WC and 2003 Real Madrid. And even then with all of those issues he proved people over and over again why he is the THE Phenomenon. Him and Zidane were just a joy to watch.
