Crossbow recoil

Answer this....... What makes a rocket move ? Is it the exhaust gases ? Is it the opposite and equal reaction pushing against the front or inner bulkhead of the rocket. The crossbow does not a rocket make. Godspeed.

Nice attempt , but unfortunately fire (rocket) and vacuum dont work together ! And even if you mix it with oxygen or what ever ! In space you will get no opposing force to move ! Take a vacuum chamber , put inside a little pc fan and some small paper pieces ( who are continually flying inside ) ...... now put the vaccum .... and nothing happen ... the pc fan turning .... but not the pieces of paper ! Same with a small drone in vaccum chamber ..... it will not fly under vaccum ! Car : push on the ground Plane : push on air Boat : push on water or win .. Rocket : push on ground , than air when there are in atmosphere My question is : on what the rocket push when there are out of atmosphere ?
