One method to plant this time of year is to soak the seeds before planting. The issue with planting is most farm equipment isn't designed for soggy seeds. So if you can use a straw thrower to toss the seed then disk it under, you can get it to grow. Many times planting at night allows the moisture to stay in the seed longer. Some farmers will bury a watering system under the field.
  • Dear old "Betty" is officially named - love it. Certainly can move some loads of dirt. Pity about the millet Fence line looks neat and tidy. Farm life is the best.

Good evening Chris nice watching Betty again on your homestead making use of all that top soil 💯 per cent tidying up thanks for the content Chris
  • Hey Chris one of my dad's friends was a contractor who did water mains for local utilities. Most of them do not allow "couplers" that are not molded in. This means that at the places where short pieces of pipe are used the cut off pieces are trash. He got miles of eight inch and larger pvc pipe that were anywhere from eight to sixteen foot long. He used a bunch of them for places like this around the farm. Two or three eight inch pipes side by side are pretty good drains and since he got them free it was awesome. Just had to go collect them once in a while from the contractor's yard. Schedule eighty pcv is very strong for such use on farm roads. Just a thought in case you know someone.

Ain't no such thing as a boring Letsdig18 episode. Always a pleasure to watch Chris running his equipment. Can't wait for his next big pond build. The new Bealy Good farm project is already getting to be entertaining to watch.
  • Glad to see you got some time to yourself and got to work around the farm good old Betty great machine great video thanks Chris

Once again, I thought this was a 10 min video and was surprised to see it was 30! Your content is fun and interesting to watch. Seeing you maneuver that large equipment so easily is fun. 25 yrs ago I rented a small Bobcat skid steer. It was so much fun to work and yet I wished I really knew how to properly use it (would've gotten better results!). Thanks, Chris for sharing your job and your farm with us all. Have a restful rest of your weekend.
  • Awww, you gave Betty her very own name sticker❤️ Great tidy up along the fence line to be. Take care & cheers😊
  • @johnjmar609
You know Bealy gotta be jealous about this pile of top soil 🤫
  • @Mark_T_902
I laughed so hard. Complete silence while putting on the decal 😂😂 not a word
  • Pretty nice Betty got her own name label, now she’s a member of the LD18 family for sure, probably make her go faster now. Property management is never a once and done deal, person always has things to do and maintain, and you are pretty much on top of it sir. Thanks for the farm update.
  • Oh sweet Betty has a decal, Nice. Know you have wanted this section fenced almost there. Something else off your check list. Good work Chris.

You were doing a great job of spreading that soil using the closed bucket but I remember seeing guys spread a full bucket by lowering the bucket down to grade level, then open the clamshell and tilt the bucket forward so you are just using a dozer blade to spread it. Just an idea, thanks for another great video.

watching you operate Betty brings a lot of memories back to me of my time operating the same type of machine.
  • @deernutOO
Liking her new sign, for sure she will treat you well now. Working your farm is like heaven with no rocks. The glacier dumped many, many on us here in WI
  • Nice to see the old woman up and working again ! Betty sure can move earth that's for sure! And hey I thought you were taking a weekend off lol
  • @spewp
The only difference I see between work week Chris and weekend Chris is work boots vs flip-flops. 😆
