Storing your Pokemon cards in a binder doesn’t guarantee card preservation and protection! Watch this video so you know what to do (and what NOT to do) when it comes to storing your Pokemon Cards (or any cards) in a binder for protection.

We’re in this for the long term, right? Don’t regret the binder decisions you make now 30 years later when you pull them out of the closet again.

For the best binders, I recommend VaultX brand products. Since publishing this video, I've become an ambassador for their brand, and negotiated a discount for you!

I do love the fact that you sleeve every card in the binder. I also do this, I'd love to see YouTubers put more focus on sleeving Reverse Holos also because no one wants a scratched holo and in 25 years it's going to be ridiculously difficult to find non scratched reverses.

As a kid my idea of storing was an extra rubber band around the cards in my pocket 😂

I can say for certain that more people need to see this. A ton of my early cards were ruined doing nearly everything wrong as stated by this video. Fortunately with age comes wisdom and better understanding of how to keep cards safe.

The “BAD BINDER BEHAVIOR” got me.😂
  • Living in Puerto Rico, you need to double sleeve, zip side loaded binder, and leave a little humidity bag in the binder. Extra protection to prevent humidity to enter the card, and double sleeping really helps with dust.
  • I use the ultra pro zipper binder and I love it. I sleeve my more expensive cards before putting them in. I love this binder and have had it for 1 year, a bit more expensive but worth it if you want to keep your tradeable/ collection cards in tip top shape

When it comes to card sleeves, Dragon Shield's Sealable Sleeves are the objectively best choice. The sleeves get sealed so no dirt and dust gets in, which means that there's no need to double sleeve. And even if you do double sleeve, there's no longer any change of dust and dirt getting inside the inner sleeve, as it's completely sealed. Also, since you don't need to double sleeve, there is less plastic blurring the artwork while the cards are in a binder. All in all, the absolutely best choice.

dude thanks for bringing up all these key points to be able to keep our cards in great condition for the long run, love the content pat

There's another reason to sleeve the cards before inserting them in the binder: Those pages with the soft texture in back can actually leave an imprint of that texture on a card (if you insert a bare card and there's enough pressure put on it over time). Also, If you want to use ring binders instead of the ones with a fixed number of pages, you can buy side-loading pages, including the kind with that soft texture in back.

Sleeve and load the open side into a top loader the best advice I've ever been given for my top cards
  • Thank you Pat!!! It’s like you read my mind. I kept asking myself how to properly store my collections. I’m glad you put this out because it’s something I plan to do when I start brilliant stars 😍. You’re amazing!!! Always enjoy your videos.
  • @GlobaIsss

Vault X Zipper Binder is 100% the way to go for binders! I've been using them for a couple years now and never any issues and sleeve up all my cards in Dragonshield sleeves

For europeans: At the moment i'm using a zip binder called "Gemloader" which is actually a sideloading binder for cards stored in toploaders. so if you're looking for something like this, ill recommend it to you!
  • @TrolldownYT
Thank you for the tips! I'm super focused on preserving my cards properly and this helped a ton
  • @jnastystl
Glad that you showed everything getting penny sleeved. I also have toploader binders so that the hits are protected with sleeves and top loaders and it's easy to show to people or take to trade nights etc.
