  • I have a toy poodle with tracheal and bronchial collapse. She turned 16 on November 6th. She has been on Theophylline and Hydrocodone for about six years. We moved from TX to NE in 2021. Tiffany missed her human and doggie friends and lost two pounds. Specifically, she went from 9 pounds to 7.5 pounds. I used to give her medication twice a day. Now I usually give her the medication only once a day. Sometimes she plays like a puppy, but not often. Never does she gag anymore. I'm glad Tiffany has not failed on medications. I didn't notice the mention of theophylline in your presentation. Theophylline seemed to really help.

Thanks for the info. Our 18 mo golden was just diagnosed by our vet and will soon see an internal med doc for a detailed exam. This background should help improve my discussion with the specialist.
  • my chihuaha was fine. never had trachael collapse. took her to get her vaccines and started doing it right after.

I just lost my 14.5 year old Yorkie. There’s no doubt in my mind that he had TC. Our Vet never mentioned this even after explaining classic symptoms 😔
  • Thank you for your EXCELLENT presentation. I lost my beautiful 12 year old female bichpoo 2 weeks ago from Dynamic Trachea and Bronchial collapse. At first her vet said she had congestive heart failure and put her on Vetmedin, furosemide, Trazadone, Enalapril and eventually on Hydrocode/homatropine. Her vet ordered X-rays and the report showed moderate left heart enlargement, consistent with mitral valve insufficiency, but no signs of congestive heart failure. Between February and March my dog had 3 episodes of acute respiratory distress. Your presentation really helped me to understand my dog’s condition with a collapsed trachea and bronchi and the anatomy of the trachea, lungs, the bronchial branches, etc. My dog couldn’t drink water without coughing. From birth she always would cough after drinking water and as she got older her illness got worse especially in the end. Sadly I had to have my beautiful dog euthanized. She was really suffering from the trachea and bronchial collapse. Moving forward I will read about the various health issues that dogs inherit or are born with BEFORE deciding on which pet to adopt. Thanks again!!

Excellent presentation. I had a very old Yokie that pass away from Trachea collapse. Now my old Chi has developed the same condition. It sucks but you deal with what you got because you care.

Hello, I know this might be a little late but, I have a small dog, and he was diagnosed with a heart murmur about 3-4 months ago he is on meds and like your dogs they did x-rays and also determined he also a collapsed trachea, and now he coughs he is a little older @ 12. Like you I’ve been worried for him and the vet answers also rub me the wrong way, sounds like I should get a second opinion. The only Obstacle is also not rich, and the only way I was able to afford x-rays and other expensive procedures is I have a payment plan that covers a huge proportion of vet visits. I guess your video gave a me hope he lives another 5-7 years
