Today we add another R32 to the fleet. This is a 2004 R32, MK4 generation. I am pretty sure it was the cheapest R32 in the US. The car needs some work. In this video we walk through all the MK4 issues, do visual inspections on the engine, suspension, brakes. Also plan for a fair amount of rust repair. At this exact moment the plan is for about 500WHP turbo setup. #R32 #Humblemechanic

I need your help! What is lacking DIY wise on these cars? I Want to be sure I get everything out of this possible

When someone buys a parts car but doesn't have the heart to let it die, true car guy!
  • @jamesbarr3455
Grab the front subframe, clean it up, powder coat it, with step by step on the prep. Same with all the suspension arms. Some DIY seat repair? Aftermarket stereo, done correctly? Cheap headliner repair? That's all I can think of right now. Press On!!!

Turbo project and forged engine rebuild. Like if you agree 🙋‍♂️
  • I would LOVE to see a complete & in-depth video series on building up a race-ready VR6. Stripping down, block re and re, boring, oversized pistons and h-beam rods, crank knifing, dry sump, timing, CNC dimple head porting, oversized valves with dual springs and titanium retainers, cams, short intake, big turbo, meth injection, and dyno tuning. Or, instead of the stereotypical VR6 turbo, a REAL electric supercharger/hybrid system. There’s some companies out there doing electric motors driving the crank via cogged belt (as opposed to an electric leaf blower fan in the intake), and battery banks in the rear.

I would totally hang a rusted, Humble Mechanic-signed R32 fender on my wall in the garage, looking over my Golf R, hahaha! A giveaway would be cool and would give some folks an interesting story to tell.

IMO some of the best looking OEM wheels ever made!
  • @TazR6
I am really looking forward to this project. As you know, I drive a 17 year old Peugeot 307 and have never had anything VW, nor do I plan to. I am addicted to your videos though. I think it is your methods that do it for me rather than the objects. The way you explain each step and the huge depth of your knowledge. Not to mention your passion for what you do. It is really interesting and easy to understand.
  • Rough around the edges for sure but I think she’s found the best home she could ever have! Can’t wait to see what you do with this one
  • @phox0999
I get why you don't want to go crazy with the nice blue one so I'm excited to see what you do with the black one.
  • @kottyking
Charles....please please do a timing chain. I need to do a clutch and timing chain my tornado red r32! I actually just repainted and tackled my rust issues with my rockers and fenders. Everything your doing right now I just tackled body wise. Closing in on 200k and 10 years of highs and lows. Also a midwestern car I can relate to the black one more than the blue one for sure.
  • @seanlyons161
I’m so glad you cover a lot of the mk4 golf. I’ve had mine for 16 years factory standard zero modifications. I must be the only one! Wish I was local to you but I’m in the UK
  • @Dev1l0ck666
Not sure what's lacking on DIY vids for for Mk4 R32's but I'm just kinda excited to see what you do with this car. I used to have a 2000 Mk4 Golf nothing fancy but it was still fun to drive.
  • @SanchoSanto
Can't wait. I love my 2002 337 and will be keeping an eye out for future videos of this R32.
  • @dubCanuck1
5th/6th gear diff oil change. Proper fix for the damn hatch latch
  • Man love the hose clamp on the drive shaft boot at 26 58min Quality work man ship
  • @benhu0511
I have an automatic mk4 jetta wagon 2.0 gas, and I don't have any workmanship problems (as far as I know), it has 288,xxx miles on it, and it is still my daily, yes it does have a little bit of electrical issues like interior light come on every once a while or that one door lock is not communicating to remote or the car it self. But the engine runs smoothly, transmission shift fine, everything just works! Sometimes even want to take it apart and see how can this thing keep running this good! And can't wait to see more R32 modifications!
  • Yo! Super excited for this build. I'm currently doing the head gasket on my MK4 R32. They're apparently bullet broof but none the less I am doing mine. There's not a lot of information on the 24v vr6 head gasket replacement. I'm looking forward to when you pull the head! Cheers
  • I have been waiting for this build since I talked to you about it at SEMA. I can’t wait to hear the turbo R32 Wookiee noises.
