Finnish hockey community LOVES you man. It’s bad you didnt make it here in 2022&23 when we had world Championship games in Tampere
  • #72, Petri Kontiola got such a big reaction from the crowd because this was his first champioship in his 21 year pro career: he's from Seinäjoki, a city on the west coast but he played his junior and early pro years in Tappara, then went on to have a brief stint in the NHL before coming back overseas and play in the KHL for an extented period of time before returning to Finland and Liiga with HPK Hämeenlinna and Ilves. Last spring after he won the bronze medal with Ilves he sorta retired, did some broadcasting work for a short period of time but was then signed by Tappara for the rest of the season as he expressed his willingness to make a comeback. And here we are, what really shows his character as a person is that he's also had to deal with some issues in his personal life, not gonna go to details about them but he was able to beat his demons, come a full circle and win the championship where it begun all those years ago. Obviously it was a polarizing decision to make a comeback after all the farewells last season and it recieved it's share of critique but Konna, as he's known, though never winning anything sicnificant before this has had such a huge role in Finnish hockey, being a long time trusted player for Leijonat, Finnish national team, that I'm confidend to say that deep down there isn't a single Finnish hockey fan who hates him despite all the negativity.

Thank you guys for this Finnish hockey series! This spring you have gained loads of new Finnish fans that will surely follow you even as you continue your journey around the world. I hope that you loved your time here and you are definitely welcome to Finland whenever! I wish all the best to you both and luck with the baby!
  • @PanderStar
A true blessing to follow your journey! I've been a Frölunda supporter my whole life and it was so fun to watch your videos from Gothenburg. I was actually at both games you attended to and saw you at one of them! It's amazing to see Finlands hockey culture as well. Thank you for taking us with you!

Us Finns can be quiet and little bit reserved, but you have found the magic combo to find more talkative Finns. Mix some beer and common interest (Hockey) and you get a very much talking Finns. Sometimes just a common interest is needed. :)
  • @at4396
Remember the Pelicans goalie, Kokko! He is forsure going to be the Seattle Krakens first goalie in couple of years. He is just a young boy now.
  • Jetlag warriors: are you still in Tampere? Stay there! Tomorrow Finns are celebrating Vappu - the arrival of the spring. Go out downtown in the evening and you will see a REAL PARTY!
  • The number 19 (Veli-Matti Savinainen) is not only a good player, this was his sixth Finnish championship in his last six seasons in Finland. He has won 5 of those with Tappara and 1 with a smaller team called Ässät. He's known for performing exceptionally well in big games. E.g. he was the top scorer in the finals this year and he scored a last second equalizer last year in the championship clinching game.

I think the "Canada Bowl" is the best possible name for the championship trophy (the highest price) because it honors the home of hockey (Canada) and it's also very symbolic to be donated by the Canada's Finnish community (2 great hockey countries)
  • @mjolio
@24:27 This guy #34 throws his helmet in the air, but then realizes that "hey, it's not worth damaging your helmet" and grabs it and lays it on the ice xDD
  • I just feel bad for Pelicans. Third time they've reached the finals and third time second place
  • @StadiMies
Kinda sad it’s over, was hoping for game 7. Just for the sake of these quality videos, nothing to do with supporting Tappara or Pelicans 😁
  • @theunknown3410
Number 19 Veli-Matti Savinainen won his 6th championship in Liiga. He has also won a world championship and olympic gold medal.
  • @Raymo666
