Dr. Hoffmeier, greetings from DTS in Denver. Exodus date fits 1313 BCE, which is 2448 AM. During that year Horemheb was closing Amarna. People had to go back or go somewhere else, but they had to EXIT Amarna. 2448 is the traditional date in Orthodox Judaism. And your explanation for Abraham being given goods by the Pharaoh as a bride price/diplomatic marriage protocol is very persuasive!

Regarding David and Jonathan, Saul qualifies for us to make his meaning absolutely clear. Obviously, Jonathan has chosen David (who was reportedly extraordinarily handsome) for a lover. There's no two ways about it. I think the trouble people have with this is the idea that God chose a very human man to use to work his will. David also sinned grievously in committing adultery with another man's wife, then sending him out to die. David was far from perfect. God may choose whomever He will to achieve His purpose. David was humbled by God's punishment. He didn't defy God. That's the important thing. Christians should always keep in mind that God is forgiving. God hates the sin, not the sinner.

The same way the tribal groups in Pakistan and Afghanistan live in a similar manner, mostly in the way of tribal alliances. They will make alliances then fight another group and then change sides and fight the group they were previously aligned with. I was caught in the middle of a firefight between two tribal factions in the border area, bullets and mortar rounds flying all over the shop.
