The Crown. The very symbols of power, wealth, majesty and royalty. You can’t be the King without the Bling. Let’s take a look at the 1500 year history of the British crown jewels. They have been washed away in the sea, stolen from a grave, melted down to make coins, sold off to pay princely debts, and pilfered from countries across the globe to end up on the heads of Britain’s Kings and Queens.

I make mini documentaries about women's history and royal history:

"The monks' brew gave him dysentery and he died" . Well, isn't it a divine intervention.
  • Can we appreciate the fact that the most valuable jewels of the crown were hidden in a Royal Dansk Butter Cookies tin? How funny would it have been to see that tin in the basement and someone thought "Oh cookies!" but then thought "Oh it's probably just sewing/embroidering supplies." And not even bother to open it because they had been used to being tricked. Just think about how funny and smart that play was.

I like how “presented” and “gifted” was emphasized. You spilled some real tea right there 🤣

If one wants to see authentic Medieval English crown jewels (as opposed to all post-restoration replicas), there is the lesser-known crowns of Princess Blanche (daughter of Henry IV) and Margaret of York (sister of Edward IV & Richard III). These crowns left England when these royal daughters married, & thus they were out of the country when Oliver Cromwell came gold-hunting. They're both pretty neat-looking, but Blanche's crown is particularly unique and intricate.

Can you do a video on the history of correspondence and letter writing? Using Henry VIII’s reign for example… how long did it take someone to get a letter from London to… idk, Norfolk? Did people in a city or town send letters to people on the other side of town back and forth in one day? Were there people who’s only job was to carry letters? Or was it “hey you’re going that way, will you take this?” How often were carrier pigeons used? More than human carriers? So many questions about mail!

  • They have had their jewels washed away twice and still have the grandest collection north of the Alps. Speaks volumes.

I love that cross Sapphire ring! I saw it when I saw the jewels at the Tower of London in 97. I found it fascinating!! I can't to wait to find out the history of it!

I love the intro so much, I have an almost pavlovian response of excitement and sitting up straight and looking at the screen when I hear it come from my TV
  • Lovely video!! I visibly gagged at 24:22 when I saw Camilla sitting there with a crown next to Charles
