Top Gear tends to like Porsche 911s, and to like restomods. But when every restomod is a Porsche 911, well, our attention can waver…

However, this is a Porsche restomod that’s not a 911. It is, in fact, a 928. A 928 that French company Nardone Automotive has given a thorough refresh with the help of Podium Technologies, the Italian firm that engineered the Glickenhaus 007 LMH endurance racer and Automobili Amos Lancia Delta restomod.

Frankly, it’s gorgeous, with new carbonfibre bodywork, a revised gearbox, a breathed-on V8 engine, a futuristic-yet-retro interior, and an utterly awesome sound system.

Top Gear’s Associate Editor, Jason Barlow, is your guide to this modernised Porsche GT…

That interior is some of the best i've ever seen.

It's pretty enough, proper engine mounted behind the front axle, manual, no huge tablet ruining the cockpit. If only restomods weren't so expensive it could scare the big manufacturers into making proper cars again. I just watched a new M5 video, what a vulgar thing. After this I cleansed the pallet 😂

As a 928S owner. One word, WOW! (they have used the early seat/steering wheel design). Great wheels. In fact great everything in my humble opinion. A wonderful tribute to the 928.
  • Wow. Absolutly gorgeous. I wish new cars adopt that old fashion design again. No more screen, no more over the top technology. Just pure design and happiness.

Been following their work since 2020… great to see the final product

I want it, I need it and some day I am going to have one. I was most blown away by the interior actually, what an amazing work of design, engineering and art.
  • This is pretty much the best interior I've seen on the inside ever. So simple yet so perfect. The exterior is amazing as well, especially the front and back lights.

Remember when Jeremy drove this - the original car - in the Patagonia special? Still one of the best specials I've seen!
  • This is ultimate in cool from the 80s, beautiful, sleek and innovative. Dont know why this car doesn't get more love.

A wonderful update. The aesthetic changes push all the right buttons. The “balance” is correct, the rear side glass has the proper flow and the fenders (wings) now have the right look. The interior is classically simple. Well done!

"a memory of a future that hasn't happened yet" - Nicely said!

That interior is the nicest looking interior of any car ever made. Sublime.

Been following this masterpiece for quite some time. This public appearance sure will give the project the boost it deserves. Brilliant work Thierry Nardone

WOW this car is actually a true restomod none of that unnecessary screens and it emulates the originality of what is used to be! How much does it cos- oh great another car for the rich, what joy. Movin on.
  • One of the more reasonably priced and well done restomods outs there. Well done.
  • Good luck to the guys who created this modern version of a classic. Even tho I can’t afford it, it makes the world, for a Porsche fan, a little bit more beautiful.
