Being a trucker and a guy who rides a bike, I know that it seems safer to ride towards the outside of the lane, but it's way harder to see a bike like that. I tend to ride towards the right of the lane passing a semi, and I try to limit my time next to them by speeding up.

Hey Dan. I just got back from my weekend ride. A guy from side street just jumped in front of me. Nothing happened, because I didnt drive fast, I noticed him and assumed hes not gonna see me. Rolled off the throttle, applied brakes and as I saw he's not stopping I just let him. He was terrified when he saw me, probably figured what he would cause if I didnt stop. So - thanks for all your videos, I watched hundreds of hours of them, you made better rider even before I started riding🤘🏻
  • @AmusementForce
Great content! Is there any way you could turn off autofocus on your camera and just pull focus manually?
  • Welcome back, Dan missed your videos, I have learned so much. Keep up the great work, buddy.

How many bike accidents has Dan been in his life? the advice is amazing, id be interested to know how many crashes he's had, and how many he's prevented. I know prevented will be high lol

I love the pattern from aviation, that applies really good to driving or riding. Aviate (do whatever is needed to make things stable, pretty much basic training on flying), Navigate (figure out where you are and fly where you need to) and then Communicate (communication, revbombing, gestures are meaningless if you do not have control over situation anymore)

In many of these close calls and crashes because of line of sight and cars not seeing motorcycles, if cyclist moves back and forth in the lane people will see you much easier and it improves your line sight. People see movement more than colour or lights.. I get yelled at often for swerving back and forth, but I am happy that they saw me. Before entering intersections where cars might often turn in front of me , I swerve back and forth , shinning my headlight into their faces. Be careful no one is beside you when swerving. At night it is especially important to move back and forth as your headlight will blend in with the cars behind you.

I absolutely love the practice part with your live commentary in the end! And I'm also glad you are back on YT! I don't ride and i don't even have my license, but i do like watching your videos and learning some practical stuff :) Keep it up! (And hey, more practical rides with live commentary is always appreciated!) ❤
  • the car going left with the right blinker on was pretty crazy tho lol
  • @shanehalfenberg
Clicked to watch at 49 seconds after posting 😂 Love the videos Dan!
  • Hey Dan awesome video, I think another passive sense that people don't realize is happening while riding is feel. as we ride and use the Plan method. our underlying senses of how things feel is working to. example, passively you're also avoiding dips, cracks, and tar snakes on the road that aren't a hazard per say, but just by how your bike feels as it rides through those textures you feel them through your palms and body, and are making adjustments for them as well, all while you are doing your Plan method. the mount of processes your brain is doing, actively and passively is quite amazing.
  • That riding fit is pretty dope too. I really like the brown gloves with the olive green. Just looks cool af.
  • @ChancellorBeeHaw
thanks for your insight as always Dan! very useful teaching people that it doesn’t matter if you’re in the right or have the right of way, you should still always expect people to break the law or endanger others, so preparing for every situation is all you can do :)

Absolutely love your videos and how you point out stuff. It's great schooling and refresher. I already watch everything like a ground hog but these videos just solidify why. Keep it up 👍
  • @BenjaminWSong
7:45 one of the problem is the car merging into left while right turn signal is on.....
  • @grandsea2
the backpack that takes 17:08 on the bike of the rider getting taken into custody didn't steal his bike...they saved it from the impound lot...he got it back later...
  • 13:00 i do like you said and try to get through as quick as possible. Though if you ride in the right side of the lane they can see you in those mirrors. Hes to far left to be seen in the mirror.
  • @Mash3OH3
I use your videos for practice as vs training on my 51kph ebike lol. Might consider motorcycle one day OR just upgrade my current ebike setup
